The Associated Press emailed TheBlaze a statement regarding the photo. It doesn’t explain much, only notes that the caption for the photo has been updated to note why the young girl behind the photo reacted the way she did:
The Associated Press on Monday took and distributed six photos of Gov. Romney’s visit to an elementary school in Fairfield, Va., to its member news organizations and customers.
One image showed Mr. Romney as he was crouching down to pose for a photo with the schoolchildren.

Not a big deal to me. But it does shut the Rats mouth for whining about Romney not caring about kids and not appearing on Nickelodeon, as this shows he does care.

By cropping the photo to edit out what the child is really looking at on Romney's right (check the direction her eyes are pointing) it deceives the viewer to believe the child is looking at and reacting to Romney's rear end!
Shameful! The leftwing would not have missed making that an issue if this photo misrepresentation was done by their opponents.
That photo will definitely back-fire on the AP.

One of the comments someone made on the Blaze website cracked me up when they captioned it - “ Look Romney really did wipe his a$$ with Obama during the debates the other night”
It was just one of those moments when the camera captured something at the right angle and looks like something that it wasn’t. All the Under 30 Beavises and Buttheads of America are making stupid sophomoric jabs at it. Why should we expect anything less? All the young minds that are supposedly intellectually superior that went to college and they can’t see the great fraud in the WH or understand the ramifications and implications of particular legislation put forth to alter the very document that gave them the very liberty, rights and prosperity the still have FOR NOW.
Something in white is behind him; can see it just to r/s of his tie. Other kids are smirking. Wonder if he just missed kneeling/stepping in a “lawn tootsie roll”? LOL.
Don’t count on this being a complete backfire. So sure, it is going to show up on the Jon Steward “Daily Show” on Comedy Channel, and the snarks in the crowd will crow and chortle, but those folks were not fully persuaded that Mitt Romney is a serious candidate, anyway.

Why, oh, why would he be expected to appear on Nickelodeon? I can’t believe this is even an issue. Children don’t vote. All this does is trivialize the office and make us look even more like a Banana Republic. Some of us still have brains and don’t fall for the “dear leader” crap. My children’s opinion doesn’t influence my voting.
Although there is some depth compression due to a long focal length lense it looks like she is actually looking past him to his right.
It’s the ap, of course it was designed to be unflattering.
Now that is funny.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the girl in the yellow shirt pretended to kick Romney - and looking at her friend for approval beforehand. I could see my kid doing that (pretending - not actually doing it) if that was Obama!

FAIRFIELD, Va. – Mitt Romney ordered his motorcade to make an abrupt U-turn in rural Virginia today, after zipping by a group of elementary school students waving in the front yard of the school, so he could go back and meet them....
.. as a group of roughly 100 squealing students, who had since retreated inside Fairfield Elementary School, were promptly marched back outside of the school house by an advance staffer.
“Thanks for waving at me as I came by, I decided to come by and say ‘hi’ to you guys,” Romney told the kids, many of whom were fourth- and fifth-graders.
She’s just impressed because he’s flexing his buns of steel.
