Benghazi attack may cloud Clinton’s legacy
Washington Post ^ | October 9, 2012 | Anne Gearan

The fatal attack on a U.S. diplomatic compound in Libya last month has become a test of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s leadership and a threat to her much-admired legacy as America’s top diplomat just a few months before she plans to step down.

Clinton was among the first Obama administration officials to publicly condemn the attack and mourn the deaths of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans. But as the State Department has weathered Republican-led criticism that it misread warning signs before the Sept. 11 attack, Clinton has been far less visible.

Clinton will not appear at a Wednesday oversight hearing on the Libya attack, where House Republicans have said they will question the State Department’s security preparations and the administration’s account of the attack. The State Department will instead send a trusted career diplomat along with three security officials. …

I’m not arguing with you. I know that we knew that there was no protest. The difference is that the STATE DEPT NOW SAYS THERE WAS NO PROTEST, after Hillary made her intentionally misleading speech on 9/12.

I don’t know what you have such a problem with. Conservatives knew that Obama was lying.

She's there for the Clinton legacy. Bill's. She's took that position to make sure the Obama legacy fails but didn't realize how little she would need to do to accomplish that.

I have a problem with ABC claiming credit for breaking news that broke over three weeks ago. The source in the State Dept. is still unnamed. I would also note that Hillbilly has plausible deniability on those remarks since she never specifically mentioned Benghazi. I know that's what she meant but there is nothing to pin her down on that.

0bama is another story...

At U.N., Obama again blames Libya attack on video

Speaking at the opening of the United Nations General Assembly Tuesday, President Obama portrayed the deaths of four Americans in Libya as a result of inflamed tensions over an anti-Islam movie produced in the U.S., rather than a terrorist attack.

Rice and Carney both directly blamed the video for the Benghazi attack too.

I guess being the wife of a politician is NOT good preparation for being a Secretary of State... Who’d a thunk?

Her legacy??

* Whitewater
* Bizarre profits in market
* Rose law firm records
* Failed Health Care Initiative
* Vince Foster
* Making sure the Iranian regime did not fall during the riots after the election.
* Making sure the Libyan regime did fall and that Al Qaeda controls Libya.

And most of that was before she ever held elective office. How does a dead ambassador damage that legacy?

Clinton knew the explanation by Obama was a lie. She would not go out and lie for Obama as that would destroy her political career. Hillary will lie if it advances her political ambition or to stay out of jail.

I thought that the fatal attack on the U. S. diplomatic compound in Libya was another (more obvious) example of Hillary's failed leadership. Is there a short listing of her "much-admired" accomplishments?

" The State Department said Tuesday it never concluded that the consulate attack in Libya stemmed from protests over an American-made video ridiculing Islam "

By making it a gray area when they say " never concluded " .... in other words, they are trying to say they didn't say it word for word as in... what the meaning IS , is.

They are saying with the wording of" ongoing investigations " excuse ( you bet they will use this excuse ) a ON GOING investigation, therefore... it was never a final " conclusion " .
