Thanks for posting today’s story about the Seal Romney met at a local “block party”.

His widow is honored that Romney is citing his story, and is saying her former husband’s wish for a present was “A new president.”

Member since 2005, and you don’t know what IBTZ is? I may be wrong on my assumption but that’s just not right.

That’s good to know. To cite a cliche, “liberalism is a mental disorder”. While I feel sorry for the mother, she is completely in the wrong.

You know by now that this is a different woman than the Seal whose story about meeting that Romney has been citing.

This is the “bump in a road” widow, not Romney’s story citing the widow whose husband wanted a present of “a new president.” and is honored by Romney’s using their story.

Contrast the liberal with the conservative - and the mythology is that the liberals have more heart???

Here's a couple of articles I found while trying to search about the State Dept. budget. One deals with wasteful spending by the State Dept. The other is about embassies facing security cuts this year due to sequestration:

Embassies Wasting Money

Security cuts

I'm not sure, and another Freeper may know more about this, but I'm assuming that like all government agencies, the State Dept. budgets are tied to the passage of a Federal budget. There hasn't been a Federal budget passed since 2009. The last Obama budget voted on was in 2011, and it was defeated by a 97-0 vote against it. Remember, the Dems have held the Senate since 2008.

Romney was merely stating that he remembered the young man because he thought so highly of him, and he mourned his loss.

How the hell is that politicization?

It’s a tribute to the young man.

Once again, a person on the Left demonstrates they have no ability to take in and process information. And in light of Obama’s actions related to the death of this young man, his mother should be praising Romney, not nit-picking at him.

There was live info coming out of Bengazi, and Obama went upstairs and went to sleep.

Lets see you blame Romney for that lady.

Why get into an argument or otherwise degenerate a gold star mother? She already lost a son to the service of our country.

Just respect her wishes and move on, even if you disagree with them.

I mean really, the woman has been through enough. Just give her a break and ignore her.

No one is trying to "degenerate" this woman. It is she who brought herself into the spotlight.

So, her son’s slaughter was just a “bump in the road” for the Marxist, and she scolds Romney for honoring him?

Nothing like the liberal mindset.

She needs to STHU and be thankful he was honored.

I am guessing auto correct took a misspelled denigrate and turned into degenerate.

Romney has apologized to this elderly mother and said he will not mention Meeting her son again. He is correct.

Where is the idea that Mrs. Doherty is an Obama supporter coming from? She could very well be of the old fashioned notion that you do not disrespect the commander in chief no matter what. I don’t know. Do we know of her family’s sacrifices over the years? Her son was not wearing a uniform at the time he was blown to smithereens and yet he was brought home with a heroes welcome. Maybe she is reacting to that treatment. Most contractors and mercenaries are never recognized for their sacrifices. Some get an anonymous star on a wall in Virginia. Some get nothing at all except from their families. Regardless, her son chose to be where he was due to his noble if not foolish notion that he could help spread freedom to Libyans.

It’s a tribute to the young man.

Citing a CNN report that Doherty had been killed while trying to help others at the consulate, Romney expressed his admiration—and likened it to the leadership he says the country needs now in Washington.

"When he and his colleagues there heard that the consulate was under attack ... they went there. They didn't hunker down where they were in safety. They rushed there to go help," Romney said. "This is the American way: We go where there's trouble. We go where we're needed. And right now we're needed. Right now the American people need us."

Romney raises him up. He recognizes his heroism.

His Mother?

Barbara Doherty, whose son died in the terrorist attack on the U.S. Embassy in Libya, described the assault as a “little bump in the road” towards freedom in that country.

His sister has a different view of Romney's comments.

"It was nice what he said. Being an American hero is bipartisan," said Doherty's sister, Kate Quigley. "I am happy for it, and I was honored by Obama's coming home ceremony."

Evidently, Mom has an agenda more important than her son's memory.

all agencies get their budgets cut in times like these

that's when they have establish priorities for the funding they do have

I'm thinking the US embassy in Tripoli and Consulate in Benghazi got enough money to afford a trustworthy security force armed with real weapons and real ammo, ROE permitting them to use them, and a true safe house with an attack proof bunker and an escape plan to get the US Ambassador out via a safe route

In fact, if the budget was that tight then the unguarded consulate on Benghazi, a real jihad haven, was no place for the Ambassador to be visiting, was it?

Funding is a red herring. What was lacking here was an awareness of the nature of the enemy and the will to protect the Ambassador from them. A disregard of intelligence that didn't fit their perfect world of free arabs cheering over Qaddafi's sodomized corpse. A State Department full of Hillary's anti military wonks who were more concerned about finding jobs for homosexuals and loathe to call in the Marines, too PC to have armed guards, and to admit some Libyan “freedom fighters” needed killing

I'm shocked at your casual dismissal of "her son's" sacrifice.

The Disaster found 180 million to buy a prison in Illinois that Congress refuses to authorize so don’t expect me to believe that this is anything but administration incompetence. Rather than use that illegal money to bail out the corrupt Democrats of Illinois he could have used it for diplomatic security.

You won’t find lack of money at the root of this debacle but incompetence or worse.
