Letting us in on a secret (CIA Benghazi)
WASHINGTON POST ^ | 10/10 | DANA MILBANK

Posted on 10/11/2012 7:17:31 AM PDT by RummyChick

When House Republicans called a hearing in the middle of their long recess, you knew it would be something big, and indeed it was: They accidentally blew the CIA’s cover.

It has been pretty clear that the CIA was involved in this mess. I find it interesting that the Washington Post - who has long been a press conduit for the CIA (See Operation Mockingbird for starters) is making it so clear.

Don't know what the end game here is but there is surely division among the ranks.

Kennedy was smirking as he was talking about intelligence and how it "evolved"

Since when is the Washington Post concerned about protecting so called state secrets? Dana Milbank is nothing more than a Pravda tool! His article seeks to blame the house republicans in some convoluted way for secrets that the state department was putting out for all to see. I smell yet another cover up in the works and one that the administration and their lapdog press will try to turn into a lose lose for the republicans. This article is the start of a concerted effort by Obama to blame Issa and company for outing CIA. Another Plame Game in the works.

NYT was also part of Operation Mockingbird but the Grahams spearheaded the whole thing under direction of Frank Wisner.

That just didn’t die away despite the claims of George Bush...

Bob Woodward had no journalistic experience but yet WAPO hired him.

There is an interesting connection of Obama’s girlfriend:

Her family is the Jessup/Alger Hiss/Dean Acheson/founder of a Beirut College/Penrose/Richard Helms/ Frank Wisner/ CIA...connected...as you follow the trail.

And SR was in a photo with Arnie Nachmanoff (of Henry Kissenger fame..helping to decide the fate of Chile) with Robert Ruenitz who gave 320,000 to Occidental for a foreign lecture series and at one point was with the foreign service in Japan. Haven’t quite figured out how he made his money but he did say SR was a loner .

Round and round you go down the rabbit hole

This WP editorial is an after the Libya raid cover for Obama’s Admin lapses and lies. Since the terrorist raiders attacked both compounds, the CIA one was no secret from the locals. Obama’s political heads in the State Dept. ignored the requests for security and lied after the attack.

I watched it unfold yesterday and the State Department insisted the information was declassified already, (even one of the Dems reiterated and supported the states declassification point), when Issi told them to shut it down anyway. Propaganda News serves to feed the masses and it becomes truth. It disgusts me.

Hmmmmmmmmm - - - - - ? Does the CIA also have one named “Operation Big Bird?”

Might be, as Fox News says Obama has mentioned Big Bird 8 times and Benghazi zero times since his debate with Romney.

Obama and Biden can’t keep secrets when it comes to National Security, so 8 mentions of a secret operation seems about par for Obama, the tattle-tale.

BTW, In the VP Debate tonight Ryan should ask Biden why he was the one who told the enemy about the top secret Seal Team Six involvement in the BL raid on the Monday following the raid.

Can America afford another 4 years of Biden’s betrayal of Top Secret Information?

Is America less safe because of Biden’s blabber-mouth?

Could an enemy spy have released top secret information faster than Biden did?

I don't understand. It was the State Dept officer Lamb who put up the photo and she and Kennedy insisted it was OK for public viewing.

And I believe it was a Democrat (the "Ranking Member of the Ctee") who asked for the exact number of the Rapid Response team. I thought that were the locals (13th of Feb. brigade whatever).

Same game they played with the “Plame Game”.

Claim it’ an undercover “classified” CIA operation so no one can talk about it.

Don't buy into any BS that the video and protest in Egypt had nothing to do with this attack.

The protest and the attack were coordinated months in advance to occur on the same day.

The idea behind the administrations lie that the attack was spontaneous was to try and make it appear as if the terrorist are so in tune with the news that they are basing their terrorist attacks on what is in the news instead of the news being orchestrated for the attacks.

With the news being orchestrated for the attacks, that means our little lefty friends are the ones that have been orchestrating the news for the attacks.

This attack was orchestrated by a two bit attorney trying to create their own defense.

It’s pretty well known that the CIA works under the cover of the State Department.

You can bet that Hezbollah knew about William F Buckley when they kidnapped him.

The Ambassador to Indonesia left right before the coup and became the head of East-West as they were training for the CIA.

I have said from the beginning that it is possible there was some kind of CIA operation going on here that went wrong...and thus the wild cover story.

The diary was an obvious plant for CNN. Who planted it and why.

CIA TRUMPS ALL. If they are in a fight with the State Department or Obama or both - Obama and Clinton will lose.

So what if the CIA was part of the Benghazi operation?

That still doesn’t explain or excuse the fact that from day one Obama and Clinton knew this was a coordinated terrorist attack and not a spontaneous uprising in response to a video. Yet they lied about it for weeks and in the process, actually incited uprisings all across the ME.

And it still doesn’t explain or excuse why, despite repeated requests for additional security in Benghazi, none was supplied.

Milbank’s spin is a trial balloon, a transparent attempt to change the subject and disparage Republicans and the CIA.

Ah, so the Gorelick wall has been rebuilt. The State Department had their own special press conference the day before, excluding Fox of course. These two boobs that smugly brought all this supposed classified information are the ‘leakers’. Now pray tell what was their purpose? To once again blame Republicans?

It was the State Department that made the Obama administration look like complete buffoons... One thing though it became clear without question that Obama LIE about an offensive video did not cause the deaths of 4 Americans.

Hey Dana, the charity arm of the D-n-C, the JonStewart media, carries the leaky buckets. The Republicans did not cause this mess and since we the people are funding liberals insanity we have a ‘right’ to know why there is such corruption, incompetence, and why the ‘Taliban is now inside the building’!

And Dana your ‘gotcha’ article says far more about you than the Republicans doing their Constitutional duty. 4 Americans were slaughtered while you and yours are mucking up a liar in chief. They work for US, while you and yours make a mockery of US by your incessant ridicule. Alinsky on you.

Did the Secretary of Statements Hilly send this un-named “State Department Official” to testify that the information was “entirely unclassified?”

Hilly needs to shift the murder of her Ambassador to Obama if Hilly is going to run for President in 2016.

Hilly is brutal. Keep an eye out for another Vince Foster incident.

It kind of does explain it.

The excuse being - we couldn’t tell you that they targeted a CIA operation so we are going to make up some BS as cover.

After watching the full hearing yesterday, I believe Chaffetz knows quite a bit of what happened since he went to Benghazi. He probably talked to CIA there.

He is clearly upset.

Notice that Lamb said that it wasn’t money that kept them from providing more security.

In the murky world of intelligence- it is possible that the CIA told them not to bring in more of a presence because it would thwart some plan.

I don’t know if that happened...but it is possible.

The administration informed us that the two ex Seals were not part of the security team but were working “in country” on other issues. They by chance were at the consulate and went down doing what Seals do best, fighting to the end.

It does not take a rocket scientist to know they were CIA. The administration also said that we are conducting other covert activities in Libya.

The administration blew the cover on the CIA.

Hillbuzz thinks it was a planned kidnapping by Obama.

Perhaps the CIA messed up here and let all of this happen..they were suppose to protect Stevens and didn’t.

We kept hearing about the “annex” but now you know it is a CIA annex. Chaffetz stopped the Democrat who was asking about numbers that would have gotten into how many CIA were there.

It’s possible that the State Department considered sufficient personnel in totality between CIA and State.

Quite naturally, Milbank only takes his argument to a point that serves his purposes.

The CIA has a presence at virtually ALL U.S. diplomatic facilities around the world. If they had a safe house/compound near the consulate, it would hardly be a surprise.

Here’s a better question: if the CIA had a presence in Benghazi, where were the operatives/security personnel on the night of September 11th? If the spooks had bugged out, why was Ambassador Stevens allowed to travel to Benghazi—without security—knowing the risks involved? And if there was a CIA presence in the city on that fateful day, why didn’t they come to the rescue of the consulate?

At least one of the dead SEALs was working on a project with the agency, attempting to track down missing MANPADs. He ran to the sound of gunfire and with his fellow SEAL, held off the attackers for a couple of hours. So, Mr. Milbank, where was the rest of the CIA contingent?

Of course the CIA was there. They were giving weapons to AQ terrorists and the Muslim Brotherhood to send into Syria or else they were frantically trying to buy back weapons they gave to the Islamists to oust Ghadaffi. Just because the CIA was there, does not mean that their purposes were on the up and up or even smart tactically. I agree fhat they were likely trying to clean ip some acrew up..they usually are...lol. Anything that Dana Milbank writes though is suspect as coming from Obama’s political strategists.

Obama and his minions are arming our enemies....that should be enough to impeach him and his whole cabinet...no matter what branch they hail from IMHO.

Your version has merit, but I believe the reason they didn’t provide more security was ideological and not logistical. Bolton was pointing to this on Greta last night. They wanted to entrust the security to Libyans.

Your take on blaming the video is very plausible.

I’m sure there are many ways to beef up security without it being obvious. It would be pretty crappy if the Ambassador and three other men ended up being collateral damage to cover up a CIA operation. If so, we really need to take some lessons from Mossad.

“Just because the CIA was there, does not mean that their purposes were on the up and up or even smart tactically.”

LOLOLOLOL

Yep.

One of my favorite quotes about the CIA made in reference to Fast and Furious by a former undercover DEA agent

“If I were a criminal profiler, it wouldn’t take much to identify a CIA pattern here [with Fast and Furious]: A wacko, barroom commando, illegal operation that makes no sense whatsoever, run outside the control of law enforcement.”

That’s why I say it is possible that CIA told State to stand down as it pertained to more personnel. They could have said that they would provide the security. I have no indication that is what happened. Just saying it is possible.

Here is what I think. There have probably been more instances of this kind of thing in our illustrious past. The thing is...other administrations were more adept at covering it up. Obama is a buffoon. However, Clinton with Slick Willie as her mentor, should have been on top of this.

It is the old bait and switch operation meant to deflect from the core issues and incompetence of Obama and the democrats...just like they did in the Plame set-up. Yesterday, the house republicans proved that the budget had nothing to do with lax security.....so now it is on the plan C or D.

Blaming video did not work
Blaming Romney did not work
Blaming Stevens himself did not work
Blaming budget cuts did not work
Now they are going to deflect blame to republican’s having the nerve to hold a hearing.

It is pathetic. I hate our media.....lol

Here is one other thing to consider:

The video that got the blame.

Let’s say some CIA plan went awry and now Obama needs a scapegoat. Hey, let’s blame a video on youtube.

EXCEPT - there are murky connections to that video - including one of the people being an informant.

So was the video part of this whole thing to start with - or just something that existed and they latched on to it.

I tend to believe it was part of a plan. Whose plan???? Remains to be seen.

Yes, it was referred to as a Safe House.

Now, no matter what BS requirements are of the State Department - no bullets, yada yada yada, CIA are going to have weapons with bullets.

CIA provided the destabilization (their forte) to overthrow the dictator.
