A Letter to Joe Biden
Ricochet ^ | October 13, 2012 | Dave Carter

Posted on 10/13/2012 2:22:22 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Dear Vice President Biden,

It was on Christmas Day, I believe, a few years ago. A family member on active duty was at Walter Reed recovering from a severe injury. Some of my family decided to forgo gift exchanges amongst themselves and instead travel to Walter Reed to spend Christmas with our family member there, along with the other troops. It was a unique and wonderful experience in which the family received at least as much comfort as they brought. Unhappily, I was not able to be there, but I received regular updates from the folks, including the story of your visit to the hospital.

While I'm sure there was a divergence of political opinions in the room, I'm told everyone there sincerely appreciated you spending part of your Christmas with those who have given so much for us all. Indeed, they tell me that the common bond of having a family member on active duty made it seem more like a visit between military families than a visit from a sitting Vice President. And it is for that very reason, and out of respect for your son's service, that I haven't really leveled serious criticism toward you in the past. As a retired military veteran, I respect what you did and felt that I had an additional insight into the kind of person you are. I separated Joe Biden the politician from Joe Biden the warm-hearted man who was kind enough to visit with my family during a difficult time. But in light of your outlandish and petulant demeanor in a serious debate of issues upon which rest the future of our children and grandchildren, I think a reassessment is in order.

Watching Congressman Ryan try to respectfully engage you in thoughtful discourse was like watching Emily Post try to take a gorilla to tea. You reminded me of people I've had the misfortune of trying to rationalize with in the past, …people with whom I couldn't fit an uninterrupted word in with a shoe horn, and with whom I eventually abandoned all hope of ever being able to complete a sentence. By the way, had you alerted the Guinness Book of World Records that you would be going for the highest number of interruptions within a 90 minute time frame? During the 40 minutes and 12 seconds that Ryan actually spoke, you interrupted him 82 times for an average of one interruption every 29 seconds. If Hooters had a Boob of the Month calendar, you would have secured your place in it.

And if you weren't jabbering like Gabby Hayes on ritalin while the Congressman was speaking, you were laughing at him. Was this meant to inspire confidence, or was it meant to distract the viewer from points that may have been injurious to your cause? Because whether the issue was Iran's nuclear designs, our shoddy treatment of our ally Israel, our weakening national security, a lethargic economy, the tax and regulatory burden on the entrepreneurial class, or healthcare, when your opponent raised substantive issues, you responded with laughter and contempt. Your performance was, in short, an abominable affront to the very idea of civil conversation.

To my dilemma, then: Who is the real Joe Biden? Was it the gentle leader who took the hand of an injured service member and thanked him for his service? Or was it the clodhopping buffoon who galloped over another man's words with nary a care for manners or substance? Was it the father of a veteran who spoke kindly to my family at Walter Reed? Or was it the unruly, overly animated, porcelain-veneered ass who did a disservice to the nation and his own office? Are you a good man who pretends to be a politician on the public stage, or a politician who pretends to be a good man in more private settings? Either way, it's terribly disappointing, though I take subtle refuge in the fact that we have at least one thing in common. We both prefer Neil Kinnock's words to yours. Meanwhile, as I look forward to a bit of laughter myself in November, I remain;

Yours Cordially,

Dave Carter

Can you imagine what Republicans have to put up with trying to negotiate with Biden?

Story about Biden, 31 years ago, acting similarly during Reagan's Under-Sec of State, (Judge) William Clark's confirmation hearings.

It's disgusting.

Joe Biden: Plagiarizer-In-Chief "....Exhibiting a partisan shamelessness unlike anything I had ever seen, Senator Biden launched pointed question after pointed question at Clarence Thomas. He hurled insults, unfounded accusations, and sarcasm-laden diatribes at Justice Thomas, who endured the shameful spectacle with the dignity and grace we have come to expect from him. Biden literally spent three days leading the despicable charge to discredit a brilliant, decent, fair-minded black man—simply because he didn’t like his politics. (In truth, the motivation behind these disgusting attacks was the left’s attempt to destroy someone who they saw as a potential threat to Roe v. Wade).."

I tried watching the debate, but gave up after about half an hour. It was to embarrassing to watch, our VP is a giggling clown.

It's the Clod-hopping buffoon. Proverbs 29:9

If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet.

I made it a point not to watch the debate on television, but instead to wait until I could read the transcript and the summaries. So I didn’t find out about the sideshow and the teeth until after reading the transcript. Interesting contrast. I wonder if this is why, in our Court system, the jury has to watch the witnesses?

I just woke up to let my cat out and thought I would check Free republic while I was up. That was quite a letter Mr. Carter wrote. I remember Biden and how despicable he was at Justice Thomas’s hearings. My father told me that his grandmother told him back in the 1930’s “Stay away from Democrats, they are bad people.” The longer I live the more I come to realize that my great grandmother was a wise woman.

Exactly. It was a pleasure reading this excellent letter.

I have been wanting to thank you, Cincinatus' Wife, for all the effort you put into posting threads here at Free Republic. I find that many of the headlines I click on have been posted by you. (That was also the case back during the primaries and I didn't appreciate it then because we supported different candidates.) Thank you!

I stopped at about the same time because I felt my IQ drop every time ole chuckles opened his mouth.

Biden’s performance was just a physical manifestation of the utter contempt liberals hold for conservatives. Biden showed no respect or even common decency toward Ryan, because as a liberal all conservatives are seen as morons, bumpkins clinging to their guns and religion and people unable to make the”right” decisions in their lives without the help of liberal elites like themselves. For Biden any questioning of his exalted status by someone as contemptible as Ryan was cause for mocking laughter and disdain if not disgust.

I have a son who is a Marine and I have mused on the scenario of his being hurt and having a politician (of any persuasion) visit him in the hospital.

I guess its my innate cynicism, but I do believe, unless it were done completely in secret, I would feel it to be a self serving intrusion.

What if Obama pulls this smirking, laughing, interrupting bit with Romney?
Can Romney handle it?
I know Obama will pull something.
I’m worried about this next debate.

I have been wondering that as well, but Romney is accustomed to being questioned and challenged. Obama (PBUH) trained by herding Little People toward Free Stuff.

Romney did well in corporate snake pits, opposing genuinely educated and feral money types. I hope The W0n tries it. He has been protected, coccooned, and coddled all his life.

As big an )*( as Biden was, he was a seasoned, rough-and-tumble Old political Flack, not a media synthesized phantasm.

Among other admirable attributes, Romney has class, and a sense of respect. I think he can handle the likes of the
giggling fool. He’ll let the lesser man make a fool of himself.
Never been a big Romney fan, but he does seem to be a decent man. The more I learn of him, the more I think he is exactly what America needs, right now.
I only hope he can run with a mandate, and not reach across the aisle for anything! This is war.

Hilariously, a large number of Dems believe Romney acted just as rudely towards Obama as Biden did towards Ryan. In their thoroughly deluded minds, Romney was just a beast towards Obama. I saw the Romney-Obama debate. I’d like these idiots to point out the times Romney snickered, guffawed, sneered, or interrupted Obama when Fearless Leader was speaking. The times Romney called Obama’s words “malarkey” or “stuff.” Because I don’t think they can find one time.

I believe I watched every second of the Clarence Thomas hearings and I remember it quite differently. I had the opinion that it was 100% that Biden would vote to CONFIRM Thomas. I was SHOCKED that he voted against him in committee. Biden had fooled me with his smiles and (must have been, false) courtesies toward Thomas. I guess I was just naive back then, but Joe was the same old Joe as today. WHAT A PHONY! Joe is anything but Mr. Nice Guy.

It's not “No More Mr. Nice Guy” it's NEVER WAS Mr. Nice Guy.
A complete FRAUD. FUJB.
