Coal miners ask Obama to stop ‘absolute lies’ ( Ohio )

Coal miners at the American Energy Corp. Century Mine said they want President Barack Obama to stop what they term “the war on coal” – and to stop spreading “mistruths” about them.

Miners gathered Friday afternoon to express their opposition to Obama’s energy and environmental policies, which they believe threaten their jobs. Miner Mitch Miracle read aloud a letter the miners mailed to Obama that outlines some of their concerns.

The miners said Obama’s campaign team is running ads filled with “blatantly false” statements about the miners regarding their participation in Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s August campaign stop at the Century Mine. These ads assert that the miners were forced to attend the event by the mine’s owner, Robert Murray.

“There are numerous false statements and absolute lies concerning our participation in this event

I have never seen an administration in such a blatant war against a particular sector within the private sector. It is truly mind boggling.

what I learned today on Free Republic: this admin provided guns to alqueda to take out Kadaffi, set aside 40 million to buy back those guns (Steven’s task in Libya), that Zero’s ‘grandmother’ Sarah and his cousin are channeling non-profit contributions into the spreading of Sharia Law, and that the Obama African family plan is to spread Islam thru Kenya and beyond - and that Zero is in constant contact with his Kenyan family, who are now also extremely wealthy.

What are these miners smoking?..
They are quite delusional..

Obama has made no secret of his energy plans..
He’s proud of high energy prices and non existent coal products..

Somebody please SLAP the people hard..
Nevermind... Obama did that and they just think it’s an oversight..

Coal miners get pretty black after a hard days work..
Maybe that has something to do with it..

NOTICE: to all white republicans and democrats WASH YOUR FACES WELL during the day.. Something’s going around..

Obama (or pro-Obama groups) has been running ads in eastern Ohio that claim that Romney is anti-coal and that Obama is the friend of coal miners. It is completely ridiculous, of course, but that is what the miners are talking about. You would really have to see the ads to understand.

I live and southeastern Ohio. Within 15 miles of two coal fired power plants. The coal miners around here and the power plant workers are wise to what is going on. They are overwhelmingly supporting Romney. They now see the results of O’s plans. Contrary to what the news may say these workers are not supporting O. I have seen several “Coal Miners for Romney” bumper stickers.

I have read some about this before - that Benghazi was Obama’s Libyan Fast and Furious. Do you have any links for this? Need them for someone who does not have time to search, as he is presently working 12-hour days. Thanks.

I’ve never seen an administration that’s this deceptive and manipulative in every aspect. They make Enron board members look like choir boys in comparison. If you were to compile a list of the lies and deception I am willing to bet it would contain more pages than HR 3200.

Maybe they thought that when Zero said energy costs would necessarily skyrocket and running a coal mine would bankrupt those who tried, he meant that as costs went up, their wages would skyrocket too - that's why they voted for him the first time. Reality bites...

Can you ask your friends what they think of their union leaders who told ten to vote for Obama last time around? So nice of them to simply not endorse a candidate this time around. They would rather die that support a Republican.

I think this refers to the ad that’s running in some Eastern states, including my home state of WV.

The Obama ad claims that at a Romney campaign stop, the coal miners were forced, under threat of losing their jobs, to attend the Romney event so to show miners support of Romney.

Now, I guess the miners are claiming that the threats never happened and that they showed up voluntarily.

I tried to read the article, but I get an error message at the site.

As a former UMWA miner (North American Coal, Quarto #7 Mine, Clarington, Ohio)I think/hope that current miners have enough sense to vote their own best interests. I think that I saw on here a few months ago that the UMWA is not endorsing anyone for President this year. I can proudly say that I never once voted for the union endorsed candidate.

I met Bob Murray in '82 or '83 when he came to our mine and made a speech that basically said if production didn't increase by a great deal he would push for closing the mine. Production didn't increase enough and my last day underground was June 19th, 1984. Looking back, it was probably the best thing that could have happened to me.
