RIP Arlen.

You were a RINO, but at least you helped usher in Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court. So thanks for that.

Couldn’t he be considered the 60th vote for Obamacare?

My sentiments exactly. I first became aware of Specter because of his masterful and very effective defense of Thomas.

Arlen could do some good things because of the way he played the game.

He would swerve to the right with Thomas because of a primary challenge in 1992. After he dispatched his primary opponent and the feminists trashed Arlen for his questioning of Anita Hill in the general election, Specter would become apologetic.

Arlen swerved right and left and of course switched parties to get elected and to try to stay elected. He parsed his words even better than old Bill Clinton.

That’s what it was all about, “Scottish law”, “guilty but not proven” etc. etc. Rhetorical exercises in political survival were the stuff of Specter who wanted to hold onto the power as long as he could.

I’m with you. That’s an awesome legacy, even if he later disowned it. Thomas simply would not be on the Court except for him.

Otherwise, yes, he was a jerk.

Specter is the RINO that led the charge against confirming Robert Bork. I will not miss him in the least. He also has to answer to God for all the unborn babies that had a hand in killing with his support of abortion on demand. God will not be happy.

Yes, his one saving grace. But ever since the time he helped Ira Einhorn jump bail and live the good life in France, I've always had a creepy feeling about this guy, tosay the least. I won't dance on his grave, but I won't mourn his passing either
