No need for Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. to resign: Illinois governor

Illinois Governor Patrick Quinn said on Wednesday he sees no need for Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr., to resign his congressional seat or remove himself from the November election ballot, even though Jackson has been undergoing medical treatment for four months.

"He was elected by the people to serve his term," said Quinn, in an interview with WBBM-780 Radio. "Obviously, he has had some health challenges."

Jackson, the son of civil rights leader and former presidential candidate Jesse Jackson, has been treated for bipolar disorder.

In an interview broadcast by NBC Chicago television, Quinn called his fellow Democrat "a friend" and said he saw no reason why Jackson's absence while being treated for bipolar disorder should interfere with having his name on the November ballot.

According to news reports, citing unnamed sources, Jackson Jr., 47, is being investigated by the FBI over possible misuse of campaign money. The FBI has not confirmed this. Jackson's congressional office did not address the reports, but confirmed on Wednesday that Jackson remains on the ballot.

This piece-of-work may very well be reelected to “medical leave” for the next twenty or thirty years.

JJJ could be in prison for murder and he’d still win that seat with 90% of the vote.

Actually that’s a very good outcome if he’s not on the floor voting. I’d say that not voting is a far better outcome than any replacement that will slot in there and be a solid Baraqqi.

Why can’t people who are enslaved understand that they are being held captive........ they are FREE to elect a candidate that represents them well. I guess they think he represents them well...

Exactly. JJ is representing his district, very well in fact.

"He was elected by the people to serve his term," said Quinn

One thing Quinn does not have in common with Junior.

Typical Quinn comment. Yeah, he’s not doing any work and has been sick for months—that’s no reason to get rid of him....ROFLMAO.

Illinois governor: No need for Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. to resign.

Why should he resign?

There are plenty of other insane democrats, incompetent democrats, and every kind of totally worthless democrat imaginable proudly representing the democrat party in public office throughout the nation.

I think JJ Jr. represents his constituency to a T. One might venture to say that he is just one of the “gang”.

Leave it to a Chicago politician to come up with a way to make a “no-show” job for a Congressional seat.

Gotta agree here. I'm in no rush to see him back in Congress and if he resigned now, he'd just get replaced with another equally marxist Chicago machine RAT. He can be AWOL as long as he wants. Every day without JJJ in Congress to vote is good for Illinois. (no Mark Kirk in the Senate to provide "bipartisan" cover for Obama's schemes is an improvement as well)

Unfortunately if Quinn took a leave of absence now, we'd have Medusa... err, I mean Shelia Simon to fill-in for him. Nothing short of giving Illinois an exorcism will fix that problem.

I totally agree.
Most of the 'Rats in Congress (both houses) are certifiable.
His required resignation would be deemed racially motivated.
And Holder's Justice Department would pursue the crime with more vigor than the latest koranimal terrorist attempt.

We live in interesting times.

Exactly. If he spends half of his next term in a hospital bed he’ll have the best voting record in Chicago.

And yes Sheila is ugly as hell. She looks like someone took Hilary Swank, removed a couple chromosomes, and hit her in the face 50 times with a 2 by 4.
