Romney opens up 7-point lead over Obama, as electoral map begins to shift

Mitt Romney's national lead over President Obama grew even more Thursday, with the latest Gallup survey showing the Republican nominee up 7 points -- as polling in the battlegrounds indicates the electoral map may be shifting in Romney's favor.

In a significant development, the RealClearPolitics electoral map, which offers predictions of which states favor which candidates, for the first time is showing Romney ahead in terms of electoral votes he is likely to win on Nov. 6.

Obama had a big advantage over Romney for months in those projections. But in the past few weeks, states thought to favor Obama like New Hampshire and Pennsylvania were moved into the "toss-up" column. Meanwhile, RCP just moved North Carolina from "toss up" to "leans Romney." The projections -- while subject to change any time of any day -- show Romney with a likely 206 electoral votes and Obama with 201. That leaves another 131 electoral votes up for grabs in the battlegrounds.

And they’re all lying.

Romney is going to win! If you don’t believe me - ask Bob Beckel.

If Gallup is correct, Romney will crush the Liberal Messiah. Following that, Chris Matthews will cry and consider suicide. Also, there will be at least one riot.

I like Romney’s voice . It’s ‘Presidential ‘
Very comforting , solid , reassuring .

He will become known as another Reagan , universally respected , admired and loved .

Looks to me like people are getting cocky and overconfident about these latest poll numbers.

"... at least one riot."

I'm betting at least two - one in Los Angeles, the other in New York. 8^)

There’s a difference between arrogance and confidence.

The MSM has exhibited a great deal of the former. Telling the truth on the other hand, is not exaggerated boasting!

Saw Bob Beckel on Fox a little while ago — he really looked depressed. He said essentially that if these numbers are correct, “it’s over.” He did go on to say he wasn’t quite certain they are correct — while he does respect Gallup, he pointed out the margin of error of 4%, which could bring it down to 48%. But I have to hand it to Beckel, he’s one of the few liberals that is willing to be honest about what this poll (if accurate) really means.

Perhaps - but most of us are working our butts off trying to push Romney over the line! The numbers of R/R campaign workers are LEGION!

Obama could get 47%. As the weeks progress, I won’t be surprised if he ends up with 42%. Once people tell you “its over” - watch your number take a big slide.

And it couldn’t happen to a more deserving guy.

This is not unusual. Early on, presidential polls usually show the incumbent as beating the challenger plus many polls are weighted to favor the Democrat. Now, a few weeks away from the election two things happen: (a) polled respondents begin choosing a candidate and, (b) polls that were skewed to favor Obama have to get real to maintain credibility post-election. That means Romney’s real numbers start showing up - and everyone feigns surprise.

We’re all well aware that anything can happen and things could change between now and November 6th. However, barring some unforeseen cataclysmic event that sways the election, I believe that Romney will handily defeat Obama.

Eh, I just don’t want to see our side getting too comfortable.

Even if it was a sure thing that Romney will trounce Obama, I want to see the Left humiliated, demoralized, and buried by as large a winning margin as possible so that it becomes a mandate against them.

There is a difference between being cocky and overconfident than people being sick and tired of this crap.

I can only imagine it as when Allied troops coming upon the Nazi concentration camps and the prisoners knew that they won't have to suffer the horrors anymore and they are free now.
