What a great synopsis of Romney’s speech! You missed a few things I really liked, but pretty much nailed his whole routine. About the only thing that you didn’t quite convey was the impeccable comedic timing that Romney displayed during the whole thing, even after being interrupted by unexpected laughter or applause.
I just read this elsewhere today that she wasn’t there. I tried to find an answer but the best I could do was a few posts on
the Kos site that said the wives don’t usually go and weren’t there last time and another that said Obama and Michelle try not to both be away from home overnight.
So, of course I have no idea if the second reason is true but maybe others will know if Mrs. McCain and Mrs. Obama were at the dinner in 2008.
Quite frankly it sounds a little flimsy and the “empty chair” is suspicious, lol.
This is a white tie charity affair, it seems like it would be most appropriate to attend with one’s spouse.
Dear heavens, I do SO want to trade in Mrs. O for Ann Romney, so, so, sooooooo much!
Thanks for your post. It just seemed odd she wasn’t there to lend support, but then again, they don’t seem to be extremely close.
