Maureen Sullivan Stemberg, ex-wife of Staples founder, sits in her $5,200 a month, 14th-floor, concierge-at-the-door, elegantly furnished Back Bay apartment and tells you shes broke. She cant work. She cant afford a car, her medications, her rent, even the family springer spaniel, J.J., who she just gave away.
She produces doctors notes detailing medical woes: possible lupus, bouts of pneumonia requiring hospitalizations, a history of cancer, petit mal seizures, plus recommendations for thrice weekly psychotherapy and psychiatry. She says her insurance wont cover mental health care.
Im going to be out on the street, says Sullivan Stemberg, a tiny, 50-ish woman who alternates between an overanxious recitation of worries, and tears. Ive had a change of circumstances.

She got 4 million in the divorce settlement and blew it on lawyers trying to get more. Sorry. No sympathy.
Its hard to sympathize when she’s still in that expensive apartment.
Yep I doubt this pity party of this woman is gonna fly..remember..leftists hate rich people..they are going to look at this woman, see all of her riches and not feel a bit of sympathy for her..this whole story is going to blow up in Allred’s nasty ass face
THIS has been going on for 20 years!!!!?????
She’s Allred’s type alright.
“Soon after their 1987 divorce, Sullivan Stemberg was worth $5 million, but she spent $4 million contesting her settlement and defending a defamation suit brought by Stemberg and his second wife”
And the divorce was 20 years ago.
But she must be entitled to free birth control.
2006 story of a 20 year old divorce settlement-— don’t see how this affects Mitt Romney in any way.
Looks like a quarter century, actually.
It’s about trying to do a Jack Ryan against Romney.
For those not familiar with Ryan:
Sleazy Obama politics.
I think she is a Huffington Post Writer.
Oh, damn. Just saw that this was from 2006.
Wow a 1-percenter with a 99-percenter attitude. She should start an “Occupy Fifth-Avenue” event.
First no half way honest judge would grant the motion.
Second, Romney has already spoken on this to some extent. If he had something to fear he would have not been open on it.
Third this is about money and politics period.
Here is ACE’s post on the subject and what he is hearing about what Trump has.
Only thing they have is that he may have misled on Staples value; but, then again, with such an unsympathetic heroine, I don’t really think people will care.
