Despite real-time video, emails to the White House and desperate cries for help, our defense secretary says we didn't send rescue forces to our Benghazi consulate because we didn't know what was going on.
In a statement bordering on the Kafkaesque, Leon Panetta told a news conference Thursday that four Americans, including our Libyan ambassador Chris Stevens, were left to die without a rescue attempt by nearby U.S. military forces because there's "a basic principle here, and the basic principle is that you don't deploy forces into harm's way without knowing what's going on, without having some real-time information about what's taking place."
That would seem to sum up the Obama administration's assessment of and story line about the Middle East — it has no real-time clue about what's going on. Osama bin Laden is dead, but Islamofascism is very much alive, and to send an ambassador and his diplomatic mission into harm's way without so much as a Marine security detachment with bayonets is unconscionable.
Excuse us, Mr. Secretary, but your administration had a drone over the consulate on Sept. 11...

Contract civilians, workers, albeit ex-SEALS. In a way they were free. They couldn’t be ordered to stand down, they could be fired. So, free of the bureaucracy, they could act and begin to shape the environment.
There must of been hundreds of O-4 and up. Nada. No one wants to end up on the street. It’s a culture thing. The higher you go, the more you are shaped by our supposed elite institutions, the worse it is. Civilization on auto-destruct.

A suggestion for all ambassadors/embassy staff posted in dangerous areas. Don’t depend on help from POTUS, SOD or the SOS.

The Administration is nuts to believe there are no military personnel who know what you obviously do.
Ambassadors are unarmed representatives of all American citizens. They cannot defend themselves and should necessarily expect to have the US military - on hand - sent immediately once their lives are threatened.
Seems like something any eighth-grader would know.
Then again, this Administration condones the killing of unarmed, unborn citizens.

Someone is responsible, and I want them in prison, not transferred to another govt agency with a pension and an increase in pay. I recall our MCCRES (Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation System) evaluation at Camp Lejeune, NC prior to deploying with the 24th MAU (now MEU’s) to the Mediterranian Sea in 1978.
The evaluation included NEOPs and we were instructed that this evolution of our evaluation was to ensure we were ready to evacuate Non-combatant Americans in any situation and in particular from US Embassies.
We did a dress rehearsal with many Marines dressed as civilians.
The Democrat "mainstream" newsrooms will do everything in their power to help the African communist spike the story.
