This Is What You Should Have At Home When The Frankenstorm Hits

Adam Taylor
October 27, 2012

There's a real possibility that Hurricane Sandy, aka the "Frankenstorm", could cause serious disruption to major metropolitan areas in the North East states in the next few days.

As such, its better to be over-prepared than under-prepared. NYC.gov has some suggestions for a Emergency Supply Kit that you can keep at home:

One gallon of drinking water per person per day Non-perishable, ready-to-eat canned foods and manual can opener
First aid kit
Flashlight*
Battery-operated AM/FM radio and extra batteries (you can also buy wind-up radios that do not require batteries)
Whistle
Iodine tablets or one quart of unscented bleach (for disinfecting water ONLY if directed to do so by health officials) and eyedropper (for adding bleach to water)
Personal hygiene items: soap, feminine hygiene products, toothbrush and toothpaste, etc.
Phone that does not rely on electricity
Child care supplies or other special care items

There's also some suggestions for a "go bag" that could be taken with you in the case of an evacuation:

Copies of your important documents in a waterproof and portable container (insurance cards, photo IDs, proof of address, etc.)
Extra set of car and house keys
Credit and ATM cards and cash, especially in small denominations. We recommend you keep at least $50-$100 on hand.
Bottled water and non-perishable food such as energy or granola bars
Flashlight
Note: Traditional flashlight bulbs have limited lifespans. Light Emitting Diode (LED) flashlights, however, are more durable and last up to 10 times longer than traditional bulbs.
Battery-operated AM/FM radio and extra batteries
Keep a list of the medications each member of your household takes,

Right, but, wouldn’t “Al Frankenstorm” have been more frighteningly fitting for the season?

I think you’ll live. I lived through Katrina which was a real storm with 175 mph (real) winds and 41 foot storm sure.

You can do what you want to I’m just point out what these evil cretins Obama, its government and media are trying to sabotage the election and so destroy our country and freedom and the livelyhood of many by trying to fix the election for this Obama communist with this fake sany october surprise. They say it is the storm of the century . they are even faking the wind speed of 75 mph to barely put it over being a hurricane.

How did a storm, barely hurricane status, even acquire the Frankenstorm moniker?

even that barely hurricane status is fake i guarantee you as the wind speed “data” comes NOAA a federal gov agency under Obama.

It’s all fake hype to get bengazi gate off of the news.

“It’s all fake hype to get bengazi gate off of the news.”

Maybe short term, however, this whole AGW driven hysteria has a more long term agenda of total control.

They left off extra fish food.

There will be plenty of fish food. All the people trying cross flooded roadways.

If you have a extra Frig go ahead and fill the Freezer with ice.

If you have a Freezer, fill up and extra space with 2 ltrs of water or I use empty ice cream tubs so they have a chance to freeze and will help keep your freezer cold if the power goes off.

Check your meds and make sure you have enough to last you a couple weeks or better.

Don’t buy food that needs refrigeration. If you have kids buy powder milk or hot chocolate mix made milk.

If you don’t have or need a chain saw think about at least buying a axe and or a bow saw. You won’t be able to cut up downed trees, but you can clear away branches and small limbs for those who do have chain saws. and DONOT forget some good leather gloves.

Here’s another suggestion; If you don’t have any get yourself some space saver bags and vacuum seal changes of clothes, photo albums important papers and bedding. This way if you must bug out, because your house gets damaged, flooding, etc you will have dry stuff that’s protected from the weather on your move out.

Get cash!!!

Makes sure you can get to your fire wood and it is covered so it stays dry.

It’s not just the hurricane. When it comes ashore it will run right into a cold front. Going in the opposite direction.

The warm, water filled air of Sandy will condense and dump all of that water.

And because they are moving in opposite directions, the storm will simply stall. And the high pressure system over Newfoundland will just hold it all in place.

The damage will come from the initial wind, and then two or three days of hard rain.

How did a storm, barely hurricane status, even acquire the Frankenstorm moniker?

Because it could get very ugly. The NHC has been taking a great deal of heat because of the incompetence in their computer models. Here is something that displays the three "monster" weather systems:

Eastern U. S. - Water Vapor Loop

I’m watching my livestock. They tend to bunch together and hang near the barns before something bad comes through. They got “bunchy” this evening and they are not moving far from the barns. So I take precautions.

Plus, I live in the Baltimore/Washington corridor and our power goes out if a bird so much as spits on the ground. So we have done what we can to prepare. It’s in God’s hands now.

I’ve got all I need. A really good generator and potato chips. So unless something happens to the natural gas fueling my generator it’ll just be another rainy, windy day.

Phone that does not rely on electricity.

In other words, a land line.

I know what it “means” Nathan. If your landline works without electricity, be sure to patent that genius work of invention.

It needs electricity somewhere at the station, not your house. That is why you need both a land line and a cell phone.
