Latest Ohio Poll Numbers Show Obama with 4 Point Lead; Brown Opens Up 11 Point Edge on Mandel
The Cleveland Leader ^ | October 29, 2012 | Eugene McCormick

Supporters of Barack Obama may be breathing a little easier this morning as Public Policy Polling show the president with a 51-47 advantage over Republican challenger Mitt Romney. The new numbers come a day after Ohio news organizations showed a dead heat at 49-49 according to their data. What the previous poll did not show was the result of the third, and final, debate between the two men who are battling for residency for four years in the White House. Last week, PPP showed Obama leading only 49-48.

PPP surveyed 718 likely voters throughout the Buckeye State. The margin of error is 3.7% and the data was collected via automated phone calls from October 26th-28th.

You can lead a horse to water, but....you cannot make him drink!!!

Some of us are way past being tired of assorted "superiors" telling us that if the horse won't drink, then we need to shove his muzzle into the water and apply suction to the other end of his gastrointestinal tract... in perpetuity, no less.

Obama's Minister Of Information declares:

My dear friends - the onset of victory is becoming more obvious. Republicans keep ridiculing the truthful polls we put out. Our beloved President is well ahead. Don't believe those who say he can't win November 6th. He will be the next American Harry Truman. You just wait and see!"

An Ohio poll conducted by the university of Cincinnati for a consortium of newspapers and just released also said that the state was tied among likely voters at 49/49, iirc.

Its internals were:

About the Ohio Newspaper Poll

The telephone poll which used both land lines and cell phones of 1,015 likely voters across Ohio from Oct. 18 through Oct. 23, has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points. Other sources of error are possible, such as non-response bias. The response rate was 19.47 percent.

The party breakdown of the randomly selected respondents: 47 percent Democrats, 44 percent Republicans, 10 percent independents. The data were weighted to correct for potential sampling bias on gender and region of residence for respondents.

The poll was financed solely by the Ohio Newspaper Organization.

This poll is part of a continuing collaboration among Ohio's eight largest newspapers: The Dayton Daily News, (Cleveland) Plain Dealer, Cincinnati Enquirer, Columbus Dispatch, Akron Beacon Journal, The (Toledo) Blade, Canton Repository and The (Youngstown) Vindicator. The poll was conducted by the Institute for Policy Research at the University of Cincinnati.

So, even with a +3 advantage for democrats and saying only 10% are independents, this poll with only a 3.1% MOE found the race tied.

That tracks with Rasmussen's Ohio poll.

I'm by and large sticking with Rasmussen and not being turned aside by any of the others.

Pee Pee Pee is the same outfit that engineered an R+9 - sampled poll that showed Todd Akin leading by 1 to entice him to stay in the race.

This is a dem outfit. Not a scintilla of credibility.

Yeah, the die-hard libs are already whining, voter suppression by the eeeeeeeeeeeevil Republicans, Tagg Romney owning voting machines in Ohio and much, much more. Laughable. Numerous ones were posting on another non-political, suppose to be anyway, board just yesterday about such non-sense. Now who are the conspiracy theorists today? hahaha And don’t get me started on their voter id whining, and much more.

I don’t know whether Panera is a local restaurant but it’s sort of the Starbucks of bakeries/salads/healthy sandwiches. We went to the one in Lawrence Kansas yesterday, Lawrence is the most liberal town in the state.

LOL, I've had lunch at that Panera. Have a son at KU, so yes, I know what you mean about Lawrence. Did you get a chance to scope out Mass St or the Oread neighborhood? We were in Lawrence and through campus on Oct 4/5, and surprisingly did not notice any Zero stickers/signs. It was as though there was not an election coming up at all. No doubt they can be found, but I was very surprised not to see any.

I like Josh Mandel’s position on the issues and admire his Marine service. But in the debate with Brown, he came off like a teenager. He is so thin, with a high pitched voice that breaks frequently. I hope this doesn’t turn off voters, and that they are able to focus on the issues. But it was jarring to watch him.

For the first time I recall in this race, Romney now leads Zero, 50-48%, in Ohio, according to Rasmussen!!!

A win in Ohio just about clinches a national victory in the electoral college for Romney.

..UnSkewed has 2.8 for Romney

That probably will trend further RED by election day. But I've been confident about OH for some time after reading what the Professor and others with their fingers on the pulse of that state were saying--VERY different than '08...
