Here's a little angle to the Hurricane Sandy story that might not be noticed when they are analyzing the effect the storm could have on the November 6th elections.
A lot of folks in the Northeast are going to be without power this week and possibly next, especially in some important swing states like Pennsylvania and Virginia and perhaps even impacting Ohio.
Without electricity, many people will choose to stay in their homes or dank emergency shelters. Without working televisions, they'll drag out the extra blankets and fire up the furnace or the fireplace while they listed to the RADIO for news and emergency updates.
Yes, radio. Many homes still have some battery-powered radios, some attached to emergency flashlights, with which they will listen attentively since the batteries on their laptops and cell phones won't function very long without recharging.
Some undecideds and even a few frustrated liberals will sit through shows like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham and possibly hear, for the first time, about stories the mainstream media has ignored or pooh-poohed and could inspire a few of them to not vote for four more years of Obama. Even if they are just miffed enough to not vote at all, that's probably a win for Romney.
Further, there are close Senate races in some of the Northeast states which might get helped by a week of otherwise busy voters listening to Limbaugh or others.
And just before the election too! Could be a nice little miracle for Mitt. Stay tuned...
Funny how, in a crisis, so many have only one major form of mass communication left and it just happens to be the only one dominated by conservatives! He does move in mysterious ways!
Hurricane or no hurricane Mitt would win, IMO. No effect.
Well, a hurricane is after all an act of God. Why would we presume that God shouldn’t have a vote...
If we are spared another term of Obama, it will be by God’s grace alone. Hopefully, given the opportunity, we will not fall quickly asleep.
Since Romney isn’t a Christian I’d guess the Christian God hasn’t “sided” with him.
God may still favor America, I pray for it anyway.
Not really—like most of us the Almighty is just ABO—Mittens just lucked out as the best bet to stop the evil SOB.
I have to imagine all this is going to suppress voter turnout - of all voters. It is probably going to be just too hard for some to get to the polls.
Orange Hoof, you wrote “a few frustrated liberals will sit through shows like Rush Limbaugh.” C’mon, liberals only listen to “All Liberal Things Considered” on PBS.
Did God favor Obama in 2008?
Pharaoh, Ahab, Herod, Nero - Psalm 2 is what ultimately prevails over all of them.
I think if anything this is going to help Obama
The media is going to try to make this storm out to be worse than Katrina and they are going to portray Obama as a fearless decisive leader.
Let us all gather and count the chicken before they hatch.
I think it will be a wash. Obama voters are younger and poorer. Romney voters are older and maybe not as spry.
Weather is weather.
We can’t change God, we can only change ourselves.
Has God Sided With Mitt Romney? Romney is a faithful Mormon, so I’d say the answer is yes. And if you ask me, God has been hedging up the way for Obama and opening doors for Mitt for a while now. If Romney stays true to his faith he’ll wind up being one of the greatest presidents.
“Since Romney isnt a Christian Id guess the Christian God hasnt ‘sided’ with him.”
Are you one of those who think that there is a God for Christians, a God for someone else and still another God for others? Sounds strange to me. I always thought there was only one God.
Please do not use my well reasoned response to attack Romney. Attack only my response to the issue that you identified a Christian God as apparently some other identity other than a God for all of his children.
Which God?
Does God really care about politics or the condition of the heart?
Why would you think God would want hundreds to suffer and possibly die so Romney would be president?
