A levee broke in New Jersey. It must have been Bush’s fault.
To: RoosterRedux
It’s “coup de grâce” (not blaming you, Rooster, but the headline writer).

Its coup de grâce (not blaming you, Rooster, but the headline writer). A "stroke of the goose?"

Tough to take this essay seriously.
First reason, it’s not coup de gras (which, I guess, would mean roughly, “blow of fat”).

The last time Obama ran for president, the world economy collapsed. This time we got Frankenweenie. the “perfect storm”. Two “perfect storms” in a row. It appears someone is trying to tell us something. One thing for sure, disasters are the politician’s best friend.

Oh I thought “gras” meant “goose.” I guess it means “fat.”
I thought “coup” meant “stroke,” but I guess it means “blow” or “strike.”
Learn something everyday here at FR.
“Smack the Fat” sounds like a pretty good description of Obama’s recent campaign trajectory at any rate.

I was thinking “coup de fois gras”, which is kind of an amusing image, really; a little classier slapstick than the cream pie in the face.

Maybe it was a play on words, ‘gras’ meaning ‘fat’..........

lol...it's too early for me to have caught that.
Alan Caruba is usually a very sensible writer. He will kick himself over that error.
Hmmm, I sure could eat a little liver pate about now...perhaps some foie gras.

Gras means ‘fat’ as in Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday......

"...for President Obama who, insanely campaigning, flew to Orlando, Florida on Sunday and then immediately flew back to Washington, DC, without leaving the airport."
Hey RR! I had to read this twice. He "flew back...without leaving the airport"?
I think I need some coffee - obviously I'm a little s-l-o-w this a.m." HA! hb

Gras means fat as in Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday...... Yes of course. I should have made that connection myself.
So "pate de foie gras" means "paste of fat liver," not - as I have believed for years - "liver of fat goose."

lol...more coffee needed at this end too. Perhaps Obama, in addition to controlling the rise and fall of seas, is now able to bend time and space.

I hope more in the media make the contrast that when four Americans were killed by terrorists Obama went on the campaign trail to Las Vegas the very next day, but with a week long advance of a hurricane heading toward the US he suddenly wants to appear in charge and cancels campaign events.

I think it means a seizure a political power by fat people.
