Citing long lines and a lengthy ballot, Gelber asks Scott to extend early voting
Herald Tribune ^ | 11/1/12 | L Dunkelberger

Former state Sen. Dan Gelber, D-Miami Beach, called on Gov. Rick Scott today to extend early voting through Sunday. The eight-day early voting period is scheduled to end Saturday.

Gelber, who ran unsuccessfully for attorney general in 2010, said the fact that the Legislature cut the early voting period from 14 days to eight days coupled with the “absurd length of the ballot” _ which the Legislature used to place 11 constitutional amendments on _ have lead to long lines and delays for Florida voters.

Gelber said extending the early-voting period for another day “won’t solve this problem, (but) it will certainly improve the situation.” Gelber noted former Govs. Charlie Crist and Jeb Bush extended voting times during elections.

Florida news.

Democrats are morons. Just because most of their electorate is illiterate doesn’t mean the rest of us should have to suffer.

Oh, and look: Gelber, the clown, waited until nearly the end of early voting to ask for this...what a jackass.

And plenty of time to study the ballot before they crawled into the voting booth.

Eff 'em.

No necessity other than to extend fraud.

I drove through the local (Doctor Phillips, Orlando) polling place parking lot at least 8 times over 3 days before finding an open parking spot. Every time I drove past, the line was 60-90 minutes long.

I finally got a parking spot, and spent an hour in line (at least the weather was nice) in order to vote.

I would have waited for election day, but I have jury duty that day, and I didn't want to risk missing or being late for either.

I have no idea if the heavy crowds are good or bad news. I do notice that there are probably half as many Obama signs as in 2008, and at least twice (maybe three times) as many Romney signs as there were McCain signs.

Waiting in line to vote... so odd to me. In California, there is never a line. Just walk right in, ask for a ballot. Done.

May I suggest this one? Hold it so that everyone in the polling place can see the cover. :-)

RULING: Handwritten ballots on any paper product can be placed in any dumpster on November 7th. Lines not expected to be long and no UN poll watchers.

FL allows a governor to ignore laws passed by the legislature?

The Kenyan must go.
