Romney ahead of Obama in Pennsylvania by Four Posted on November 2, 2012 by eriecogop

Susquehanna Polling and Research results for Pennsylvania released today shows Mitt Romney leading President Obama 49% to 45% among 1376 likely voters. Two percent are undecided and 3% are for other candidates.

In the same sample Republican Tom Smith leads Senator Casey by two percentage points in the race for the United States Senate seat from Pennsylvania. Smith is at 48% to Casey’s 46% according to this poll.

Diana Irey Vaughan (R) is tied with McCord at 45% each, David Freed(R) trails Kane by 45% to 47% and Maher(R) leads DePasuale 45% to 44%.

This poll shows the highly competitive nature of all statewide races where there are no highly favored candidates and it also reveals that Pennsylvania is definitely in play for both the presidential and senatorial races which will determine control of the direction of this nation between two differing visions on energy independence, education, international trade, balancing the budget and support for small businesses.

Thanks, Sam! As I have always said—Mitt WANTS to win. And I truly believe he will. :)

I’m going to borrow “TSUROMNEY” for Facebook! Well done!

It's good...unless the libs turn it into "Sue Romney" and do a rerun of 2000.

Is anyone running energy focused ads in PA?

Yes, lots. The GOP, Romney campaign, and affiliated groups are spending almost $10 million in PA this week, blanketing the state and dwarfing the Socialist effort.

I consult and write for a group that is running good energy ads in Ohio - I have been trying to get them to spend in Pa for a week now, but no takers. The ads we are running emphasize jobs and over all freedom related to OUR energy. Good ads.

I hope someone is doing something similar in Pa.

“...president-elect in less than 100 hours from now. “

I DO like the sound of that!

UPDATE: There is a NEWSFLASH on Susquehanna Polling’s website that says “New Statewide Poll by Media Client To be Released,” but there is no link for the poll results or details yet. The Erie GOP was the client for the 10/18/12 poll, so it seems likely they were the client again this time and have released the results on their own website ahead of Susquehanna’s release.

Casey is running an ad here in the York area that is just as dull as he is. Talks about his great record on “trying for tax cuts for small business” and that Tom Smith is a “founder of the Tea Party” and supports the “Tea Party budget that calls for the elimination of Medicare in 2 years”. It’s a total yawner of an ad.

I am really not trying to be an Eeyore here, but I went to Susquehanna Polling’s site, and I don’t see any mention of this poll.

Look here.

If true, the fear I admit to feeling about Ohio will have been misplaced. If Mitt carries Pennsylvania, he will carry Ohio. Game over, Hussein.

I hope Diana Irey wins. She challenged Murtha a couple of cycles back. She was a very good candidate.

She would have my vote.

Oh yeah, we’ve got that one as well. Bobby Casey reserves his snarky side for attack ads; in-person, like you said, he’s about as interesting as stale bread.

I will admit to being for Carter in 1976. Hell, I was only 14 and still hadn't formed my ideology yet. But I was mesmerized by Reagan's RNC speech of 1980...

Well, you are a youngster. I was 18 in 1976 & I somehow managed to vote against the peanut farmer. But, like you, 1980 was when I became an American. I had just come back from a trip that included Communist Eastern Europe. That is when I realized that the press & my professors had been lying their asses off to me.

that Obama’s team has let some other stuff slip away because they’ve been so Ohio focused. Be funny if they manage to steal Ohio, but lose anyway.

Yep, it could be Obama trying to throw a Hail Mary pass himself. They probably had very few plausible pathways to win the election. One of the few that might have worked was hoping all the 2004 Kerry states would fall into his bank automatically, plus the newly minted blue state New Mexico. Then he only needed to flip Ohio and one other state to win. That would take an enormous amount of effort in Ohio, but it would be worth it if the other states fell into his lap. We may see that strategy now crumbling as Kerry states like PA start falling to Romney. Trying to make Ohio go against a national trend is an unnatural way to win, hence really difficult to pull off.

The media client is the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, and it will be on the website in about three minutes. Same data, I think.

The text of the OP's lead was published today by the Erie County Republican Party, the same folks who commissioned the 18 Oct poll.
