armed drones that monitor Libyan chemical weapon sites in the area

What the Hell is Libya doing with chemical weapons...or is this more of Soddom Hussein's leftovers?

U.S. military intelligence also told Fox News that armed militia was gathering up to three hours before the attack began.

Who would ever have oconsidered that irate common people riled up by a video could morph into armed militia at a moment's notice? You can really start to understand how the Obama administration was caught off guard and so confused. /s

What is the explanation for this? A covert team is held up at the airport for 3hrs? And nothing else is done?

“Both American and British sources said, at the very least, the security situation on the ground and the lack of proper response were the result of “complete incompetence.” The covert team that came in from Tripoli was held up at the Benghazi airport for more than three hours by Libyan officials. Sources said the team notified officials in Washington that they were being delayed within 30 minutes of their arrival.”

INCOMPETENCE

No matter who is elected, it won’t even start to happen until at least Feb.

Drip

Drip

Drip

Despite a carefully narrated version of events

No matter how 'carefully narrated version of events' they release, they are still in search of a version that comes close to being truthful.

Narrative after narrative after narrative has been thrown against the wall in hopes that some of it will stick.

So far, none have. As soon as a new version hits the airwaves and the complicit media jump on board to spread it, we find they are just spreading more manure, as facts show that new event to be incorrect, contrived, or an intention lie.

The fact that Obama wants/allows them to wait for hrs for permission to go save American lives, says it ALL.

They don't have to stick. They only have to buy time until Tuesday. For the most part, it's working.

Fox News was told there were not only armed drones that monitor Libyan chemical weapon sites in the area, but also F-18's, AC-130 aircraft and even helicopters that could have been dispatched in a timely fashion.
Damn. As much as we need to have the incompetence of this administration revealed, there is no valid reason to disclose specifics about our capabilities and their purpose ...as it only further aids and abets the enemy. This info feels like a set up against Fox, which by reporting it ...took the bait.

What’s shocking is the total lack of security surrounding the Ambassador, and the fact that the WH would have us accept that information as credible SOP.

I’m in the business of determining “Root Cause”, when a problem occurs.

In this case that will include determining motives that might explain the behavior of our decision makers.

Incompetence and indifference are insufficient explanations, in the face of all of the warnings over an extended period.

Without examining all of the possibilities here, there is only one scenario that is consistent with all of the facts available.

All security was removed to facilitate the kidnapping of Christopher Stevens.

This would have set up the negotiations for his release, which would have required that we give up the Blind Sheikh, Omar Abdel-Rahman.

Remember that the ex-CIA security agents who arrived on scene and were later killed, were told to “stand down”.
Without their protecting fire, Stevens could have been taken with little trouble.

Wish I could locate the original story that expanded on this, but it’s the only scenario constant with all of the evidence.

What, the "WH’s farcical charade” doesn't cover that?

It's a story of a faked kidnapping, espionage, weapons smuggling, etc etc etc.....choose all that apply.

The only way the term "incompetence" should come into play is that the jug-eared Kenyan Marxist wasn't able to pull it off as the MB had planned it.

Any former Navy seals want to confirm that they are trained to jump from commercial planes? This is so they don’t have to get approval for airspace for military crafts.

I will never believe that a Seal Team 6 group that can parachute in and extract Somalia hostages (on the day of the State of the Union after 3 months in captivity) couldn’t have done something in Benghazi.

To determine 'root cause' one needs to know why Stevens was sent to Benghazi in the first place on September 11, 2012. Most especially when apologizes were already made in Cairo over a fake offensive video before any protests ever started.

Based upon all that I have read/heard to date it appears that canned fake video was to be a separate covert mission than what went down in Benghazi. To date all the participants in this attack in Benghazi have not been identified. I do not think we know how many vehicles/terrorists showed up for this take down. The way it sounds there was many more than just one group in on the action.

I say this based upon what Obama said to the UN. There is no doubt he knew the details by that time and yet he again was acting like a whipped pup over a fake offensive video.

But the murders/robbers/and rioters have whatever intel that was on-sight. And as far as I can tell there is no longer a mission in Benghazi. The only secrets being kept are being kept from US, sure not the terrorists.

INCOMPETENCE

...DERELICTION OF DUTY

‘The Obama Doctrine: American Lives Are Expendable’

The Obama White House, the Clinton State Department, and Panetta’s Department of Defense have guiding principles in Afghanistan that, if applied to Benghazi, explain the administration’s decision to deny air support to the Americans fighting for their lives on 9/11/12.

The denial of air support to our troops in battle is normal operating procedure for this commander in chief. He doesn’t have to give special orders to do it. It is the Obama Doctrine on the War on Terror: do not kill Muslim civilians. Let American soldiers die instead. That is how Obama thinks he will win the hearts and minds of the Islamic world.

Im wondering this too.

The official account sounds like they rented a cessna and got stuck trying to taxi in on the runway. Why not a helicopter? The official scenario just doesnt sound right. Why were they flying into the airport on a chartered plane for a possible hostage rescue? Does this response even fit the scenario?

The CIA story is a head fake, nobody should go for it. The in-country CIA "rescues" were token efforts, the best they could do with assets already "in country" and not bound by cross-border authority rules. The real story is why the robust USMC QRF waiting in Sigonella was not sent.

By the time the pitiful little ad-hoc CIA "rescue team" chartered a plane and arrived in Benghazi, over 100 Force Recon Marines should already have been there.

Has El-Sharef been heard from again?

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-202_162-57512441/libya-4-arrested-over-coordinated-attack-against-u.s/

September 13, 2012, 2:40 PM

EXCERPT

El-Sharef said the original plan was for a separate Libyan security unit to escort the evacuees to the airport. Instead, the joint unit went from the airport to the safe house, possibly because they were under the impression they were dealing with a hostage situation, he said. The militant attack coincided with the joint team’s arrival at the safe house, he said.

Right, and according to the Pentagon yesterday, they never made plans to intervene during the attack. They staged for a "hostage situation." They didn't even have troops on planes circling off the Libyan coast waiting for a go signal.

Details here.

U.S. military intelligence also told Fox News that armed militia was gathering up to three hours before the attack began.

This report is a blockbuster. Here's the smoking gun: "US military intelligence." That means the Pentagon knew three hours before the attack began that there was a serious situation developing in Benghazi. Was the WH informed? The Secretary of State? Panetta? You can bet ALL of them knew. And did nothing.

I remember this

Senior administration officials and Pentagon planners, as they discuss sanctions and a possible no-flight zone to neutralize the Libyan Air Force, say that the 2003 deal removed Colonel Qaddafi’s biggest trump card: the threat of using a nuclear weapon, or even just selling nuclear material or technology, if he believed it was the only way to save his 42-year rule. While Colonel Qaddafi retains a stockpile of mustard gas, it is not clear he has any effective way to deploy it.

“Imagine the possible nightmare if we had failed to remove the Libyan nuclear weapons program and their longer-range missile force,” said Robert Joseph, who played a central role in organizing the effort, in the months just after the invasion of Iraq.
