Mitt Romney is the only sane choice for Libertarians [Wayne Allyn Root]
Fox News ^ | November 3, 2012 | Wayne Allyn Root

As a former Libertarian presidential contender, the 2008 Libertarian vice presidential nominee, the former chairman of the Libertarian National Campaign Committee, and the man called "Mr. Libertarian" by media across this country, you might be surprised to find I’m supporting Republican Mitt Romney for president. Yes, this Las Vegan has gone “all in” for Mitt. Why? Because Mitt Romney is the only sane choice for Libertarians.

It’s simple. Libertarians believe in less government; lower taxes; cutting rules, regulations and mandates to get government out of the way of small business; reining in out-of-control government agencies like the EPA; auditing the Fed; and balancing the budget. Sound familiar?

So do Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. Certainly a little less than Libertarians, including me, would like. But, I’ll take incremental progress over no progress. Mitt Romney is a step in the right direction.

Barack Obama is a thousand miles in the wrong direction -- a direction that leads to the bankruptcy of our children and grandchildren and the destruction of the American Dream. A vote for anyone but Romney is a vote for Obama and his disastrous road that leads to the end of America (as we know it).

The Obama you’ve seen for the last four years is nothing like the radical man who will be unleashed for the next four. The first Obama term was just a small taste of things to come....

I’m taking bets on how long before someone posts that ridiculous statement about not voting for the ‘lesser of two evils’.

This’ll be like flypaper to the Paulestinians and Mormon haters, too. Who cares?

This is the conclusion I came to a few months ago.

I’m not a Romney fan, but Barack Obama is The Blight Bringer and one of these two men will be sworn in this coming January.

Oh, and I voted this morning in Pinellas County, FL.

My vote actually counts for something here. (Sorry, California.)

It’s annoying, isn’t it? Just like the “Bush gave us Obama” pap you hear from the “true” believers.

I am a Wayne Allyn Root fan. He and his beautiful wife have raised an incredible family while home schooling. He was Obama’s classmate at Columbia except he never saw Obama.

Significant!

I’m not a libertarian, but I’m a Catholic, and a lot of Catholics are libertarians. They won’t vote for Romney because he’s not pure enough for them.

Well, he’s not pure enough for me...but he’s not Obama! Also, I think he’s pragmatic enough to pull in people from places he probably wouldn’t have gone on his own, so to speak.

Ryan isn’t a libertarian, but he’s a serious Catholic pro-American, pro-capitalist economy, pro-individual liberties person, and his selection as VP made me feel a lot more positive about Romney. So now I’m actually happy about voting for him...

That said, I’d vote for an old gym sock over Obama.

Should be any minute now. A know a few Libertarians and that’s exactly how they think.

I’d assert that Democracy is tyranny no matter who’s getting voted for, but I hope Romney wins. Pretty tired of this Obama crap.

It’s like I’ve said before: Both Joseph Stalin and Hubert Humphrey could be categorized by some as “left-of-center politicians” but I know which one I’d vote for if that was my two choices...

I agree with this article 100%. Now if Romney will talk about Beghazi before the election, I’ll be a little happier.

I agree with Libertarian positions on many issues...but even if I agreed with them them on every issue, I would still vote a straight Republican ticket, for the rather obvious reason that Libertarians have not and will not achieve significant national success...ever.

It wouldn’t be wearable and it would have laid in Dave Lister’s laundry hamper next to his undershorts (See Red Dwarf for reference!) for a year and I would still for it over Zero.

I’ll plug my eyes if I see it. :)

I hope the Independents who are Libertarians bite the bullet and vote for Romney. Sure, it is a nice principle statement to not vote for either candidate - but our children and grandchildren will suffer the fallout of this semi-prideful rebuke if Obama has another term.

The only libertarians who should even consider voting for anyone but Mitt Romney and all the other "R" candidates on their ballot are those who live in states where President Obama is so far ahead that their votes don't matter. California comes to mind, as does Rhode Island and New York.

Anywhere else the cause of liberty is best served by voting for Romney and every Republican Senate and House candidate.
