Some good news perhaps. John says he has found a problem with one of the servers and he's going to try to configure around it. But it'll take him a couple hours or more before he's ready to test it. Hang in there. Prayers up that it works!
nginx is nifty, undoubtedly needs configuration tweaks, basically unpacked and built in desperation. Everything else to pull the existing software out of the toilet failed. No idea why Apache just up and barfed on the job. Very frustrating to have such poor performance without being load bound. The path that bypassed the front-end was responsive, the path that went through the front-end was dead (with near zero cpu/disk/net load across the board.)
HUZZAH! Access seems to be back to normal up here in Auburn/Sacramento. Many thanks J&J.
It isn’t weird if it works.
Bravo !
I was always condident you'd eventually get it sorted, but the prospect of tomorrow w/o this 'home' was pretty depressing, actually.
Anyway, cheers !
Smokin’ in Idaho. You da Man.
Can I stop running on this wheel now, good sir? I’m getting tired and haven’t eaten in hours.
Great improvement! Thanks Jim & John.
Good work deserves reward, so sending donation now.
Hope & pray this holds for tomorrow!
Woo hoo!!! Talk about finding it in the nick of time. Prayers up that this fixes the problems.
WOO HOOO!!!!!!!!!!! So far no time outs for me!!!!!
PRAISE GOD that we will be joining here tomorrow for the most important election in our nation’s history......yeah probably the most important election since God’s Creating of the Universe!!
You done good, John. Desperation is the mother of ingenuity...or something like that, sez me. I am simply amazed. Watched you plug in and it was like magic! (From afar, of course.)
Isn’t that a Guinea Pig?
Whatever John did, tell him to keep doing it. :p
OKAY FOLKS!!!! We are ready now for November 6th!!!!
LET’S ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yep, that there’s a Right to Work hamster!
WOW - a long time ago I ran into Apache problems (totally forgotten until I read your post.) I reinstalled and waaaay too many later tweaks from a helper finally got things going smooth again.
It's very impressive that an 'out-of-the-box' nginx installation brought such success. Maybe strategic configuration tweaks will help... but I found them often tricky.
Along with setting my message page to 20 and the replies to 20 also, it seems to be humming well.
BTTT Thank you!
It takes several seconds to post a reply. But No more Errors and article requests are pretty fast. If it can hold up to this speed then it will work fine for tomorrow night. Good Job.
I did that too, I have only breaking news as a sidebar
