As ABC News reports, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) has confirmed that the House GOP will no longer attempt to repeal Obamacare. When asked about the future of the health care reform law, Boehner said the election changes that and Obamacare is the law of the land.

Sometimes laws need to be disobeyed.
Was Boehner crying?
And just when did they ever try to repeal it? I don’t remember them withholding funding. LOL
Yes folks, continue on blaming people for not voting all the while ignoring the GOP was just playing everyone with no intention to ever repeal it. I knew they had no intention, it was sealed with Roberts’ vote. If they were truly against it they’d have fought it with their jobs on the line by holding back funding and certainly wouldn’t stop with on election.
NOT. ONE. MORE. VOTE. FROM. ME.
And how would you do that, specifically? Given that the Senate and White House are in Democrat control? This is your chance to lay out your plan to change the law, Speaker Nevermorelenore.
Sheesh. I’ve complained for years about tone deaf Republicans who can’t smack a softball out of the park. The proper answer: “Obamacare is a disastrous piece of legislation that is going to put bureaucrats between doctors and patients, drive up costs, degrade the quality of care, and lead to substandard care in a rationed system. That’s going to become brutally clear in the next couple of years as the taxes kick in and millions, soon tens of millions, of people lose their current coverage and get dumped into government rationed schemes. 60% of the American people didn’t want Obamacare to begin with, and only a president and democrat congress of surpassing arrogance would have crammed it down their throats. The recent election results probably mean we don’t have the votes for repeal right now, but Obamacare stinks to high heaven and its going to get worse. We have a huge job ahead to salvage what we can of quality medical care and to put American citizens and their doctors back in charge. “
That’s not hard.
How does this guy ever make it to work? He obviously has to wait until all lights are guaranteed to be green before he leaves his home.
Sheesh.
THERE IS NOTHING THE HOUSE CAN DO TO STOP OBAMA CARE!!!
Boehner as just telling the truth.
It is the Law of the Land!!
ENJOY!!!
(elections do have consequences and if you didn’t vote, you don’t have a dog in this fight)
The House Republicans have already funded it longer than necessary. I think it's March 2013 when a vote for continued funding is due. DEFUND it already!
Making a font that big pretty much guarantees that no one will want to read it. I always scroll down away from posts like that. It's the internet equivalent of screaming at the top of your lungs. Very annoying.
boehner is being a douche. he acts like the election was a landslide. it wasn’t.
Every time you see or hear from one of those 3 million folks that stayed home, be sure to thank them for this and the many other gifts headed our way.
I think the Republicans should give the Democrats everything they want. Don’t fight a thing. Let them raise taxes, open the borders, raise the debt ceiling, force Catholic hospitals to pay for abortions, etc. Let’s see where we are in four years.
They said the same thing about Prohibition in 1928.
1.) I am of the opinion that SOME of the legal efforts not yet decided will help us a great deal.
a.) Conscience Clause, contraceptive/abortion mandates, when the “intent” of Congress was that such would not happen by “executive order” remember?
b.) The “State Exchanges” are an integral part of Obamcare, and many States will refuse to implement these exchanges on their own. Their really isn't a funding method to fund much of Obamacare without these “State Exchanges” is there? The “Default” program, the Fed program, has no funding vehicle. The House is not likely to provide such funding.
2.) GIVEN THE ABOVE, there is SLIM chance that the House Republicans have something up their sleeves. We can FOLLOW THE LAW, OBAMACARE IS THE LAW, and we can still stop much of what the libs want, BECAUSE THAT IS THE LAW!
Yes, that would've been okay, too. Probably better.
My point above was just to let him acknowledge the truth....
As Obama says we don’t need no stinking law. F Boehner and the republican party.
Yeah but prohibition is different. Obamacare will add millions upon millions of people to the government dependency.
Those people.. much like the Obamaphone lady will never give up those benefits and will fight tooth and nail to keep them.
And once they have those benefits anyone proposing to repeal Obamacare will be called heartless, racist, etc.
Nice try.
The House could have defunded it. They chose not to because of the storm that would follow. Oh, not over the law itself, but that Democrats would have attached it to something else considered politically untenable.
As to Romney...give me a break. His would be Chief of staff supported it and Romney refused to say he’d repeal all of it.
Republicans had no intention of following through. they were just hoping they could milk the issue toward another 2010 win. well, not enough people bought into the fairytale they constructed this time.
That's what I'm talking about. Give them everything they want. ALL the corporations will move overseas.
Interesting times are turning into hellish times at quite a pace. Where will we be a month from now?
To paraphrase Clint Eastwood, Boehner’s just not doing the job, and we’ve got let him go.
They need to elect Paul Ryan as the new speaker NOW.
That's what so many said about legalized abortion.
Many of them are dead now - old age.
You don't think private insurance companies will keep their doors open and wait for that day to come do you? There will be no other alternatives as time goes by. People will not trust such a big change.
Good luck with that now. Making abortion illegal will actually be easier. We missed our chance to repeal it on tuesday. We lost. It's hear to say.
Honestly, what do you expect him to say? Elections have consequences.
It was passed by the Senate and the House.
It was upheld by the Supreme Court.
The country voted the President who signed it back in for another four-year term.
That's it, as far as the legislature is concerned. At least for now.
There will be many consequences of this bill, and some of those can be litigated or legislated over. But the law is the law. We missed our last chance to stop it two days ago.
That's life.
Unlike the Senate (Majority Leader), the House Speaker need not be a current rep. If Boner is gonna keep acting boneheadish, and no current rep wants to step up to the plate, then they can elect a speaker from outside the house... Maybe Allen West, for example, while he fights his close election - someone like him would be a great speaker.
Please consult your doctor if you experience a Boehner lasting more than four years as Speaker. It could be fatal to your health.
Now we have the sequestration battle that will probably involve some nefarious bookkeeping without reducing spending. Hell, if we can't cut $100 billion a year out of a $3.7 trillion dollar annual budget for the next ten years, how the Hell are we ever going to cut spending?
I'll tell you what he should say. He should say "Mr. President, you may feel you have a mandate after this election but it pales next to the mandate you ignored when you rammed Obamacare down the American people's throat. It was a huge mandate, 70% of the people, and you didn't care.
And they still don't want it by much bigger margins that your election. So we'll honor that mandate and keep trying to stop Obamacare for the people, for the majority of American people.
Precisely. There are consequences to an election. Frankly, I think Boehner is giving them exactly what they voted for, I’m loving it.
Bump
Such BS. 0-care defies the laws of economics which trumps any pronouncements by rinos or socialists. The states will have a lot to say about this issue by refusing to set up state exchanges.
Geez LOUISE! Every reckoning, every estimate is that it's going to cost way more to add the people it's supposed to add, than if the government had just cut them a check for the premiums of normal health insurance as we know it now.
Yes. I agree he could have said more...it is just that we needn’t bash him for stating the truth.
Boehner DID pass repeals. Obama and Reid and Pelosi are to blame for Obamacare.
And by the way: as more doctors flee (some have already testified to that fact on this thread), it will be a GREAT TIME for us to remind people about why it should be REPEALED.
BIG difference between Prohibition and Healthcare.
Healthcare deals with people's lives.
We had our chance on tuesday. We lost. It's here to stay.
John Boehner needed to go years ago.
“Why attack Boehner? He fought Obama Care.”
You call this fighting?
Defund it.
Spending originates in the House. Republicans control the House and have for 2 years. Did they defund it? No? Then don’t tell me they couldn’t do anything. They never intended to get rid of it. When Boehner admits that, then you all go praise him for truth telling. Until then he’s just continuing to spin.
In a sense, yes. The Republicans won’t be left holding the bag when the train wreck happens (to shamefully mix a metaphor).
“DEFUND IT!
The House Republicans have already funded it longer than necessary. I think it’s March 2013 when a vote for continued funding is due. DEFUND it already!”
Exactly. They always have that power.
The thing I fear is sequestration. The Rats will hold the military funding hostage until Obamacare is funded.
Still, we can not bend over and let them ram us from behind. We’ve got to use what little power we have to at least leverage SOMETHING out of this.
Quit being weenies!

Won’t it be funny if Americans end up going to CANADA for important health care?
And so let them do that. Get Obama's drones out of Afghanistan. Let him go totally peacenik. Let's see what happens.
. According to Jeffersons Manual, a 19th century procedural manual that has been largely incorporated into the House Rules:
A Speaker may be removed at the will of the House, and a Speaker pro tempore appointed.
A resolution declaring the Office of Speaker vacant presents a question of constitutional privilege, though the House has never removed a Speaker. It has on several occasions removed or suspended other officers, such as Clerk and Doorkeeper. A resolution for the removal of an officer is presented as a matter of privilege.
There is, however, a catch. Speaker Boehner may presently be the highest ranking Republican in Congress, but speakers are elected by the entire House not simply the majority party. A resolution removing Speaker Boehner most likely because of a Tea Party revolt seeking to replace him with someone even further to the right would require either overwhelming support in Boehners own caucus or collusion with the Democrats.
Hey, they’re all politicians on Mt. Olympus where even bitter rival gods cavort with one another.
Bonehead needs to have his nuts cut off — assuming he has any, and he can be the 1st patient
Thank you! Even though I was kinda being sarcastic. lol
BUT I do need to know more code for this place.
Yup. Only way to stop it now is in the courts but it NEEDS to be done now.
John Boehner is right with this statement. But he’s still USELESS and NEEDS TO GO. He’s been a disaster!
Simple solution:
DEFUND IT.
All spending originates in the House.
Boehner is the Speaker of said House.
WHY IS HE NOT PURSUING THIS TO KILL THIS MONSTROSITY?
We aren't. Game Over. The country has changed. It is no longer a christian Republic, it is a godless Democracy, with factions vying for a piece of the pie. I say if you can't beat' em. Join 'em. Raise taxes, raise corporate taxes, open the borders, just let Obama have everything he wants. Don't fight a single bill. They won't know what the hell to do if we stop opposing them. Then when it all turns south, which it will eventually anyway, they will be in the pilot's seat.
You and I are on the same page...give them everything they want. They will be flummoxed if we stop fighting. Maybe they will actually do something responsible for once.
