Everyone saw this coming. Dianne Feinstein, the Democratic Senator from California and co-sponsor of the USA PATRIOT Act extension, has been rumored to be meeting with ATF officials in the past few days and trying to come up with an outline for her next attempt at passing a new assault weapons ban. It seems like she does this once a year anyway, but in the wake of the Obama re-election people are on high alert for anything gun control related. And this time, it seems like all that practice of introducing failed legislation is leading to a more disturbing version of the bill…

David Codrea at the Examiner received the following tip from a source inside the NSSF:

I just heard that Sen. Feinstein’s attorney is meeting right now with folks from FTB and ATF legal (Eric Epstein [legal], Todd Martin [Legal] and Earl Griffith [FTB] and others) to discuss a new SAW ban, that she would want to start pushing through as soon as (if) Obama gets reelected.

I mentioned this to a gun-loving buddy of mine the other day and he mocked me, saying it’s never going to happen, he’s bought plenty of assault rifles and he’s never had a problem.

Finally, even IF she introduces a bill, AND it passes the Senate, AND it makes it out of committee in the House, it still needs to pass the Republican held House before it makes it to the president’s desk. All of which is highly unlikely. Chances are, just like most crackpot bills, it will die a quick death in a Senate committee.

Not that Obamacare went this route, but I seem to recall lots of "ifs, ands, and buts" to reassure us that wasn't going to happen either .... and it DID. By hook or crook ... they'll keep trying to get it done and one of these day, they just might.

Executive orders cannot countermand what is already in the US Code. You will not see “law # 300” is repealed by executive order.
If so attempted, we have all we need to impeach. Law is NOT made by the executive branch. War can be apparently.

Some congressmen have objected to the particular uses of EOs but not to the EO i.e. fiat as a legitimate means of government. Who is going to impeach this guy? This Congress? Is this Senate going to convict him? That has all gone away. Congress is no longer a branch of government beyond formality. The Supreme Court can probably counted on to go along with anything Obama wants to do so long as he doesn't go too wild all at once, but then if he loses in the Court? What then? Mr. Roberts has made his Decision, now let him enforce it!

Much more important things are set to eventuate soon. The disassembly of our military and the total abandonment of nuclear weapons will come over the next couple of years. When we have no nukes and little Navy then Russia and/China will make their move. Should Russia nuke the remaining aircraft carrier nd one US Cith as an accompaniment to its demands for "international" occupation and operation of the USA what is a largely disarmed US populace going to do? Oh yes, disarming the civilian population will come soon. The Kenyan has already given the go ahead to the UN ambassador to call for the UN small arms treaty. Some will resist and die. Most privately held arms will be taken. This government is in command of a technology that makes hiding of arms or just about anything else nearly impossible. Occupiers will be in possession of all that, too.

Should be interesting to see if all the 10 or so states that passed Firearms Freedom Acts (repudiates federal regulation of guns in intrastate trade) really meant it or if it was all for symbolism.
