Mitt Romney's sister blames media's vilification for brother's loss

New York - Mitt Romney's sister Jane has come to the defense of her younger brother slamming media over the way they had treated the Republican Presidential contender, and blaming them for making him lose the White House race.

Jane, the eldest Romney sister, told Inside Edition about how she felt the media "vilified" Mitt after it was reported that he traveled with Seamus, the family dog, strapped to the roof of their car.

"He was my dog...It's a crate. That's how they travel. Here's the deal. All these stupid little stories are fabricated and it hurt," the New York Daily News quoted her, as saying.

Jane, 75, also said that Mitt's wife, Ann, has not been taking the loss particularly well.

"She was crying. She was very emotional. For Ann, it was definitely shell-shock," she said.

"She won't want to be in a race like this again," she added.

According to the paper, Jane explained what she thinks went wrong with the campaign, and blamed her own family for not doing enough to help him secure a win.

"I feel like our family could have helped more. But we were scared we'd be on the 6 p.m. news, misspeaking," she added.

I don’t care whether you are buying it or not, but I’m telling you what people said to me. There is a website called “Dogs Against Romney.”

Well yes, who didn't know this stuff. The media has been solidly behind the Dem candidate since I was a kid in the sixties. The amount of vituperation directed at Barry Goldwater by the fourth estate doomed Goldwater from the beginning. When I was a young teen I'd read the anti-Goldwater articles wondering how such an evil person should be allowed to live. He should at least be locked up.

Ditto for Reagan and all other Pubbie candidates. Evil, nasty, greedy people who wanted to kill minorities, babies, and get us into nuclear wars. Conservative (or even moderate Pubbies like Romney) will never get a fair hearing from the media. Get used to it.

On a thread about Romney’s mistreated dog ending up with his sister, the subject will come up.

Today, the Romneys are no longer important hopefully, but trust me, the rinos will try to use him in some way against conservatives.

Well twinks, you don’t need to campaign for the pro-abortion liberal, Mitt Romney, anymore.

You guys used to claim that you had to settle for him, now you want to make him an anti-conservative hero and a protected species of the ultimate rino.

Your message in this thread is confusing. You say you don't like Romney's liberalism and you don't like him putting the dog on the roof. What exactly does the one have to do with the other?

If you want to campaign against Romney's liberalism, then do that. But don't be part of the drive-by media's stupid smear campaign because the ends do not justify the means.

Romney was a wimp and a friggin toady of Karl Rove, who repeated the same failed policy of another failed moderate GOP candidate in McCain, remember he is s nice guy thing they tried on Obama

Succinct and accurate.

“She won’t want to be in a race like this again,” she added.

Well that makes me happy. No more Romney. Now let’s do as I have been saying from day one. SANTORUM!!!! He would have won this election because he is way more articulate than Romney was. Oh and he has this thing called Integrity and has a core of convictions. No Flip Flopping either. The media is free to chose who they want. We have Fox News who endorsed Romney and is watched by more people....so the media has little to do with who wins elections. What screwed up Romney was his flip flops and his lack of GOTV on Election Day.

No one here has ever heard of anyone doing such a thing, putting the dog on the roof for a 650 mile trip.

When the dog got sick from it Mitt pulled into a station, hosed off the roof and the car, the cage and the dog, put the dog back into the cage and jumped back up on the freeway.

No one has ever heard of anyone else doing this, and then especially to continue it after the dog got sick, it was probably illegal at the time, and is illegal today.

You do not need to defend everything that someone does just because you embrace his politics, if most people saw them pull into that station, they would intervene and speak to the man before he returned to the freeway.

“As the oldest son, Tagg Romney commandeered the way-back of the wagon, keeping his eyes fixed out the rear window, where he glimpsed the first sign of trouble. ‘Dad!’ he yelled. ‘Gross!’ A brown liquid was dripping down the back window, payback from an Irish setter who’d been riding on the roof in the wind for hours.

As the rest of the boys joined in the howls of disgust, Romney coolly pulled off the highway and into a service station. There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car, then hopped back onto the highway.”

Did he step on your toes?

No but he just lost the most important election in our life time because he is a big fat flip flopper. It was HIS responsibility to win this election and his alone. His sister is obviously on Obama’s payroll since she is blaming others for his brother's deserved loss.

Confusing?

I don’t like what he did to his dog, and no conservative approves of his left wing politics.

You don’t have to promote the pro-abortion, pro-homosexual agenda, Reagan hating Romney anymore, you can move on to 2014.

SANTORUM!!!!

Alas, no go. As the drive-by media has pointed out, or will point out, Santorum once went on a trip with the family cat in a box in the trunk of the car.

By repeating that non-story over and over you are nothing but a tool of the media.

You know, I was out last night at the local mall and the bricks/mortar Cafe Press had THE bumpersticker of the election:

"Mutts for Mitt: Better to be in the Crate than on the Plate"

Too bad I found on the Friday AFTER the election.

Since the thread is about the non-story, commenting is appropriate.

The more important issue is making sure that Romney is driven out of politics and is not able to serve as part of a Romney/Rove team against conservatives, for years to come.

Do you want to move the GOP so far left as to match Mitt’s anti-Reagan politics and remove the pro-life plank from the platform?

We did our best to keep him out of this election but he managed to impose his will upon us and then he managed to lose the election just as many of us predicted he would.

The Dems wanted Romney as a candidate because they felt it was their best chance! And the GOPe delivered - the stupid party.

Spent too much money burying Gingrich and Santorum..

IMO, Gingrich and Santorum spent too much time burying each other. If one would have bowed out, maybe we would have had a different candidate. Mitt wasnt my first choice, but his love of Country was obvious - quite the contrast to what we have sitting in the White House. And his pick of Paul Ryan was fantastic. Many people, including some on this forum are waiting for the perfect candidate or the next Ronald Reagan. That aint gonna happen. They vote 3rd party or stay home to send the GOP a message. The only message the GOP gets is the Country keeps sending more dems and rino’s to Washington.

No I do not.

Do you want to keep being a media tool or focus exclusively on what actually matters?

Picture of Obama in hat smoking pot should have been spread around.

That picture helped him. He’s one of them. The young got him elected. He’s cool.
