Probably on application by the fbi to the secret intelligence court.

My guess is the same people (or their liberalistic clones) that authorized the hounding and seige of Randy Weaver, the murdered people at Waco, TX, and a hundred other unknown politically-based persecutions about which this country has come to know the truth.

Probably the generally-recognized principle that any use of computer equipment at work can be monitored by the employer.

If you have a security clearance you know you're being monitored. Especially at his level.

If Petraeus was using his offical email, or even his private email on a government computer, it was all subject to monitoring without any warrant.

Remember when General Eisenhower was shamed into resigning as commander of the Allied Forces in Europe because of his travelling mistress? Neither do I.

What’s the problem here? I remember the last half of the 1990s! A blow job, an extra-marital affair is not an impeachable offense!..... A public figure? Moral turpitude? The hell you say? Shit....Marilyn Chambers (a porn start) was a mother on some well-known baby product commercials....there ain’t no story here!

This is all subterfuge by the administration to cover up the fact that DP knows what really went on in Benghazi, and they’re poisoning the well.

One article said the NSA found the original email during routine scans of government employees. It was the NSA who went to FBI. I have not seen that confirmed, just putting it in the record as a possibility.

I have a feeling it began with the Secret Service embarrassment a few months back and has grown legs from there. That investigation has brought out a number of those charged and in turn, they’ve dropped a dime on others. A Secret Service agent committed suicide about a week ago. I think a broader net has been cast ... and its catching others...JM $.02

The internet is not secure. Free email is not secure. There are multiple angles that foreign intelligence services use to access and steal unclassified emails from our national security architecture and military personnel. Especially when those emails originate or terminate in Afghanistan.

Any number of foreign intelligence services could have used this information as a bargaining chip with Obama loyalists within the U.S. government. Petraeus has long been a potential political rival of Obama. When McChrystal stepped down and was replaced by Petraeus, Obama was widely praised by the left for having cleverly shipped a potential rival out of the picture. Obama later kept his friends close and enemies closer by putting Petraeus in charge of the CIA. Romney apparently still wanted him as his VP, a point Obama leaked himself at a fundraiser.

Foreign intelligence services trade in this sort of information like currency. Handing a government a knife it can use to take out a political rival silently is a gift that doesn’t go unrewarded.

Is there anything that says that Patraeus was being investigated, versus the mistress?

Maybe they were investigating her and got him in the process...

This has the fingerprints of White House operatives all over it. Petreus was going to testify before Congress and blow holes in Obama’s cover story even to point that those in the Situation Room of the WH watched the attack in real time and did nothing. Obama’s Chicago thugs with the cooperation of AG Holder got the FBI to dig for dirt on Petreus and just before Petreus was going to testify dumped the dirt into the willing hands of the MSM. Anyone remember how Obama got elected to his Senate seat in Illinois? .... tawdry details from a sealed divorce file were released. Remember how Obama got elected to the Illinois legislature? .. a smear campaign took out his opponent. See a pattern here?

I still thinking they were using this as blackmail. Democrats can’t have honest people in power unless they have something to hold against them.

He probably had enough and said to hell with it, I’ll out myself.

Could it be: Petraeus was given the CIA position, (as in keep the enemy close). Draw him in, then turn the screws on him?

Setting this gal up, via BIO on the Gen., to compromise him, which scared him into lying.

Once he was compromised, they can begin their investigations, and using their findings to Blackmail him. He would then simply be trying to protect his wife, as at that time Benghazi had not happened. There would be no need for him to think anything other than protecting his wife.

Once they had this SET UP, BENGHAZI happened and they knew Petraeus was hooked and no where to turn. Mission Accomplished.

If any of this is reasonable, then BENGHAZI was in the planning for a long time. Just had to get the Chess pieces in the right place, checkmate Petraeus.

So, somebody sees his e-mails last Spring where him and Mata Whorie are discussing their times in Afghanistan. He’s the head of the CIA. Who here thinks that the President wasn’t immediately notified?

“Man! Frank! Look at his e-mails! The head of the CIA was fooling around in Afghanistan! What should we do?”

“Well, Bob, as tried and trusted agents of The Federal Bureau of Investigation, I think we should keep our mouths shut until after the Presidential election.”

Nope. Never happen that way.
