Disbelief is the word that defines the Republican state of mind in the wake of the 2012 re-election of President Barack Obama.
The obvious questions are: How can Americans have re-elected a president who has presided over an economy where unemployment still hovers at 8 percent ?
And, How can Americans have re-elected a president who still doesnt grasp that his big government policies are what have blocked our economic recovery?
The Republican Party needs to take responsibility for this disaster.
Nothing in the outcome of this election is a surprise. The realities which produced these election results have been looming before us not for months, but for years.
Yet Republicans have made a point of ignoring it all. Now, the chickens have come home to roost.
What are these realities?
The profound changing demographics of the nation. And, the challenge of getting a nation that is already addicted to government off it.
I wrote last April regarding an analysis done by Ron Brownstein in National Journal: Brownstein estimates that Barack Obama could be re-elected with as little as 39 percent of the white vote. He notes that in 2008, when Obama was elected with just 43 percent of the white vote, it was the first time ever that a presidential candidate was victorious with double digit losses of white voters.
In a column I wrote a month ago, I noted: What was once the exception to the rule in America not being white, not being married, not have traditional views on family, sex, and abortion is becoming the rule. And these constituencies are becoming sufficiently large to elect a president.
A nation doesnt change overnight. Yet, Republicans have been in chronic denial about what has been happening.
Ironically, the Republican political establishment, and particularly this years candidate Mitt Romney, presented themselves as the party of businessmen who know how economies work.
Well, businessmen pay attention to their markets. They make sure they understand their product and present it clearly and that they stay attuned to their customer base.
Republican Party operatives ignored both -clear definition of their product and savvy marketing to a diverse base of customers.
Instead, they chose wishful thinking. Simply hope that more and more white voters will turn out and vote Republican to make up for their shrinking part of the electorate.
When polls showed what was really happening, these same Republican operatives chose to deny them too, charging they were biased.
We can win our country back.
Low and middle-income blacks and Latinos are hurt disproportionately by a sluggish economy that can only be revived by less government spending and regulation, and low taxes. They just need someone to care to focus on their communities and explain these dynamics to them.
They need to get their kids out of public schools, a cause which only conservatives champion.
And they need to understand that they have everything to gain by getting out of the entitlement programs that the left tells them they need.
The last thing low-income earners need is to pay payroll taxes when they could save this money and build wealth. And the last thing they need is government bureaucrats running their health care.
When the only message blacks and Latinos get is from left wing politicians and media telling them they need government to take care of them, what can we expect but what we just saw in this election?
Business is also about knowing that there is no short cut around hard work.
Republicans must do more than showcase a few black and brown faces at their convention every four years and call this outreach.
Conservatives must get into black and Latino communities, talk to their clergy and community leaders, and explain how conservative policies of limited government and traditional values will save their communities and our nation.
I think that near the end, Obama was the only one honestly facing reality.
ENOUGH with the navel-gazing already. Suck it up, Buttercup!
Well, that’s what I keep TELLING myself. It ain’t helpin’, but that’s what I keep telling myself...LOL!
And, How can Americans have re-elected a president who still doesnt grasp that his big government policies are what have blocked our economic recovery?
Does anyone really believe Obama wants an economic recovery? I sure don’t.
“0bama was the only one honestly facing reality.”
Hence the tears... ;)
It is not impossible. I met a white congressman from a district in IL who said his district was majority D and 40% black and he won reelection (2 years ago, having been elected in 2008 I think) with 56%. He said he went to every black church and every union hall and asked for their votes. He said he got some, but the most important thing was that they told him it was the first time ANY Republican had asked for their vote. He implied that he got more the second time around.
Every time I saw Romney at a campaign appearance, there were nothing but white faces behind him. That was just dumb. Bus them in like Obama does.
>>> Hence the tears... ;)
And with all of his other schemes going so horribly wrong so far this year (Bengazi?), I suspect that he completely lost confidence in what we KNOW happened on election night.
EVIL WON! Plus VOTE FRAUD!
I truly believe 0bama thought he was going to lose, then take all of his marbles and move to Hawaii for the cushy remainder of his life.
While I’m glad to see him suffer this huge set-back, I’m deeply saddened for America.
I’ll be OK. It’s the REST of the loser schmucks in our country that are going to be causing us a lot of headaches. ;)
Plain and Simple...
O's debate screwup was no accident. Canny Obama and his cunning, sinister crew knew then that O would win...... no matter what Romney did or said. B/c the WH orders had already gone out----their massive voter fraud operation was already in place.
REFERENCE mark o'malley excerpt: Every campaign, of course, believes its going to win. Obamas team, however, conveys such a visceral sense of self-confidence that even protestations to the contrary take on air of comically profane absurdity......
Here's....Axelrods understated way of saying that he thinks the election is already over. . .
The (Romney camp has) this fantasy that the debates will come and the dam will break like it did in 1980, Axelrod said. I think they are delusional.
Clearly the sinister Axelrod knew the outcome even before the debates began.
Axelrod: The (Romney camp) didnt give people anything to grab on to, and they allowed us to define him before he could define himself, Axelrod says of Romney.
SAY WHAT? Early on, O's campaign spent an astounding $300 million to tarnish Bain/Romney-----with little or no effect. Romney kept climbing in the polls----virtually every poll had Romney ahead.
Make no mistake---massive voter fraud took place---the Ohaha connivers were confident of victory b/c they were micromanaging the fraud from Day One.
The Obama Campaign demonstrated an such arrogance even in the face of Romney’s surging poll numbers, I suspected all along the election was rigged. The fix was in. Electronic voter fraud can make millions of votes appear, disappear, and reappear. The low-tech bus and stuff techniques were all the rage this year too but Ohio, Virginia and Florida did not shift 7 points in the polls because of Acorn. Crossroads and other PACS should fund a nationwide, independent investigation into voter fraud: interview every poll worker, election officer, voting machine operator and vendor, trace invoices, communications, seek injunctions and refer for prosecution. Anything less invites the same.
The Republican pundants (Hannity/Palin/many others) talked every opportunity about “Obama’s failed policies”. Instead they should have recognized his “failed policies” as not failing at all, but were planned and are very successful in bringing this country to it’s knees. When every EPA reguletion is aimed at killing off business as well as the NLRB, OSHS, MSHA etc. DOE has, and continues to indoctrinate our children. The Obamacare costs are going to bring financial ruin. DHS is buying guns and ammo by the millions of rounds to make sure of killing off the opposition. So ask yourself....Have his policies failed? We will see very soon. Stupid RINOS let it happen right under their noses!
Every manaical official govt act is dedicated to chipping away at the bulwark of American freedoms.
They are a virulent anti-American plague of religion haters.......vacant, surly Me-First humanoids who worship at The Church of Whatever Works For Me.
Cadres of self-absorbed punks squatting in govt are clearly disturbed---obsessed with religious cleansing and kicking so/con Repubs to the curb.
The Ohaha savages duped the citizenry, led us over a multi-trillion dollar deficit cliff, into massive corrupt bailouts, and atrocities like amnesty.
Their motto: "Everything For Us--Nothing For You."
That same generation inculcated with moral relativity and situation ethics has segued into The Entitlement Generation---better known as "Pay Me--I'm a Victim.
We need to remember that the Obamanoids are ruthless predators w/ no empathy for others and no remorse, anti-social psychopaths who recognize no moral boundaries--aggressively going after what they want, irregardless of the consequences to others.
These people are even scarier in triumph, when they've clearly mocked democracy and stolen the election
Paraphrasing Saul Alinsky----the author of evil anti-religious satanism......"they do not have a fixed truth -- truth to them is relative and changing..... they are free from the shackles of dogma."
Maybe they cheated!
Nothing went wrong.
The plan to steal the election worked perfectly
To take the blame is to become a bigger loser
>>> EVIL WON! Plus VOTE FRAUD!
I’m not so sure about that yet... the winning part anyway.
I don’t think this nation can survive this if it continues... even through the end of this year.
When people like Boehner finally wake up (and he hasn’t yet), and smell the burning roses, they will consider taking actions that they have been afraid to do all along.
What went wrong?
The Republicans nominated a guy that lost to McCain who had lost to Obama! (Like Dole lost to Bush and ran against Clinton in 1996!) Does anyone beside me see a pattern here that indicate stupidity reigns?
That is impossible when you are dealing with an electorate so stupid that they will vote for a corrupt candidate with room temp IQ that will rob them blind, as long as they are black.
Detoilet is a great example.
Oh no...another “Changing Demographics Liberal”. Good Grief...these people are helping the Biden 2016 campaign already
Five real reasons Romney lost:
1. Liberals/moderate GOP cannot beat Dems
2. Free Trade...Obama hammered Romney/Bain outsourcing...winning Midwestern white “Reagan Democrat” voters. GOP needs to dump Free Trade liberalism
3. ObamaCare/RomneyCare...”My socialized medicine is better than yours”. “No it isn’t”
4. Obama Eligibility...attacking the “Birthers” for the past 4 years...you bet a few of them stayed home...thanks Hannity, Levin, Coulter, Malkin, etc...
5. Illegal Alien Amnesty keeps Conservatives home...and Hispanics still will not vote GOP...McCain won 31% of Hisp vote in 08..Romney 27% in 12
My theory on this one is that O threw the first debate on purpose acting passive and not challenging Mitt and letting him dominate the stage, and it really looked good for Mitt at the time a clear win.
Why?? Because prior to that debate expectations were low for Mitt and high for O based on polling and O being the more well known POTUS. So Romney only had to hold his own to look good anyway.
So by O holding back in the the first debate the expectations for the following debates were more balanced, and then Obama went on the offensive putting Romney on the defensive in a number of cases.
Example : If you recall Romney said he was for a ‘path to citizenship’ in one of those last two debates. That was a defensive move and as you see it didnt get him any Hispanic votes,.
remember Romney dropped the whole Benghazi issue after the second debate, I posted here at the time I thought that was a mistake.
Think about this for a minute: the Princeton Election Consortium - which aggregates all polling - has accurately called the last three electrons and this time around, the predictions were dead accurate.
The polling showed how people *said* they would vote, and the actual returns show how they *actually voted*.
If there had been vote fraud on a scale sufficient to swing the election, the stolen votes would *have* to be evident as a difference between the intended and actual vote.
There is no such difference. (This is not to say there was no fraud, but rather that fraud was not sufficient to change the outcome).
Now, there is no harm in ignoring this evidence, if it makes someone feel better.
But there is a lot of harm done if the belief causes someone to believe that they will get a different result by doing the same thing next time, if only they can eliminate voter fraud.
Romney could not and would not articulate how dangerous a second term of BO would be to our county. He refused to tell the country how utterly corrupt the BO administration is and give detailed examples. This should have been done over and over. To heck with what the press would have said, he lost anyway, but exposing BO for the danger he is would have helped. He went John McCain on us which is what we all feared and we lost again by playing nice against a pathological liar and totally corrupt man. BO basically just got out there and called Mitt a liar and everyone believed him. Mitt let the evil roll all over him and he lost without fighting back.
Absolutely. Romney is not a fighter. Allen West is.
I agree that illegal aliens should have a path to citizenship. The path would require them to return to their native countries and come to the U.S., legally. If Romney said that, he would have received more votes from conservatives.
At least in Allen West’s case it lookd like ffffrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauuuuud!
With respect, your black brethern and his ilk performed one of the highest examples of voter fraud ever seen in the USA.
This kind of fraud occurs in N Korea, Venezuela, and old Iraq.
It does not belong in America.
BHO is The Prince of Fools
For that very reason, the Romney campaign and the RNC should have been much more alert beforehand and should have drawn up some substantive vote integrity plan to combat the criminal corruption of the electoral process. In doing so, they could have used some assets unavailable to the GOP in 2008, like more GOP state administrations, attorneys general, and state secretaries of state in the targeted swing states.
But I don't think Zero "took a dive" in the first debate intentionally. He could have been overconfident or even under the influence of a drug or drugs. His poor performance that night did nothing to help his chances. But as it turned out, it didn't destroy his chances as it should have if the electoral procedure was reasonably honest and aboveboard.
David Axelrod has shown himself to be The Most Sinister Character ever to surface in politics.
Axel, Valerie whatsherface, Rahm Emanuel, m/m Ohaha---are the kingpins of crooked Chi/politics---they are very practiced at fixing elections. They know all the sleazy tricks. It makes me laugh when these con artists pop up on-camera doing their "we're harmless" act.
You are right on target---all the crucial swing states have Repub Secy's of State---they could have easily found the voter fraud.
Romney should not have conceded---he remained duped and sap-happy til the end......like McDumbo/McCain.
The Milwaukee PD Task Force whose magnificent expose of the fraud found in the 2004 election in Milwaukee County was disbanded before 2008 and its members sent to retirement, or to the nether, nether regions of the MPD. Their report was never meant to see the light of day and was released to the public "accidentally" by the MPD PR folks during the transition between the regimes of Hegarty and Flynn.
I firmly believe there was fraud. Whether it was enough to turnthe election, we'll never know, but somebody ought to look into it.
Allen West should run for Governor of Florida in two years, and maybe President in 2016. He is a true American hero.
What went RIGHT was the SEIU, Acorn, the Communist Party USA researched with computer models for years and set up ahead of time bussed in voters to key and strategic polling stations.
Targeted of course was Ohio, and Florida. States that have the highest odds of winning the election in the past, states that in the next election should be placed on probation or in stasis, they have too much impact and makes the whole election process nothing more than a cheap traveling carnival with America as the rubes.
Push hard and don’t let up about voter fraud in these states and hopefully before december 17th we can get this election overturned.
There has always been some amorality and immorailty in our society, but the difference now is that it has become the norm in a much wider swath of the population. The influence of the 60s generation plus the immigration from the Third World nations has contributed much to the breakdown of the once common virtuousness of the population. It's only where there is such erosion of traditional values and ethics that a "Santa Claus mentality" regarding the role of government can be so pervasive.
They clearly see themselves as "deconstructionists"----savagely committed to tearing down America's traditions.
Only the leaders of the left know what the word "deconstructionist" means. Most of the followers are too ignorant to have a true sense of the damage they are doing. They are just told that they will get some goodies by following the party line. They have little idea that somewhere down the road the people they now follow might turn on them.
Thanks for the info. I wasn't up on Milwaukee 2004.
But that was then, this is now, and you have a Republican state administration in place in Wisconsin, plus a governor fortified by winning the recall election decisively. Are your AG and SOS Republicans now? If so, why would they be reluctant to investigate fraud from this year and prosecute it if they think they have a good case against the fraudsters? Is it the skin pigmentation of the suspects?
Do you yourself know of fraud in Wisconsin this year? (I haven't heard as much about that as I have about Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.) If so, please post what you know so that we can get an idea.
The AG is a RINO and the SOS is a far left Dim.
I personally don’t know of any voter fraud, although I’m sure it occurred. I heard about a suspicious incident in Delafield, but it was a 3rd hand story. It’s hard to get anyone to investigate voter fraud. Everyone wants to sweep it under the rug. Our main problem is the same day registration IMO, but that is like a Holy Cow in this state. No one wants to touch it.
IMO, registration should be closed 30 days before a single vote is cast to give time for the clerks to check the address. And photo ID should be required.
Same day registration, early voting, Motor Voter, hackable electronic optical scanners and other electronic vote counting devices: all are gifts to prospective fraudsters!!! And none of those existed or at least were not common when Reagan won the presidency. Voter ID would help somewhat in reducing these problems, but it's not an instant panacea. The best single measure to tamp down on electoral fraud and cheating is to enforce the state criminal statutes already on the books by charging, prosecuting, convicting, and sentencing the perpetrators.
Now why the heck should same day registration become such a Holy Cow to anyone interested in preserving the honesty and integrity of the vote? Those who cherish it are the same bunch who are vehemently opposed to voter ID cards.
In 1980, we nominated the guy who lost to Ford who lost to Carter.
They make you shut off your phone in a medical office. They should make you shut off your phone (or better yet they should temporarily confiscate it?) in a polling place. Who knows but someone has developed a Bluetooth-capable app for a smartphone that can read data from an optical scanner. They can then step outside and tell the other side how many more people to bus over for votes. I'm not putting it past them.
And without exception, they are Democrats.
So why can't Wisconsin, with a popular GOP governor able to survive recall and a GOP legislature, enact a state law repealing same day registration.
I’ve been asking that for 27 years. We have a cocuple of generations of residents who have been brainwashed by their union teachers into thinking that it is a good idea.
Many of us admire you personally for your life story and conversion to a cleaner life through a sharp change in your value system and your political orientation.
But we probably wouldn't even be having this discussion about changing demographics had the election been conducted on the level, because Mitt Romney would be president-elect. What Republicans should be criticized most for is failure to recognize the threat from the fraudsters and cheaters who turned this election around and failure to take adequate countermeasures to combat it.
Just about anyone following this race up until Election Day predicted a probable Romney win. Unfortunately, the most objective pollster or pundit can't account for the fraud and cheating beforehand.
Michael Barone, who probably knows the geography and demographics of the country and their influence on real voting patterns better than anyone alive, predicted a significant Romney win. And he knows all about "demographic change." So you probably should have been surprised, as were many in the Romney camp.
Barone predicted “landslide” (as did George Will, no less). Wish Barone had not apologized so quickly because there is enough actual evidence mounting for fraud. Lost cause thus far. RINOs are too busy kissing up to the “new” Administration.
BTW: Did you see this?
Infographic of the day: Obama lost independent voters in all swing states minus NC
