Ohio families receiving food stamps could get an unwelcome surprise come January: $50 less every month in assistance.

For the 869,000 households enrolled in the program for the poorest Ohioans, that could amount to about $520 million annually out of the grocery budgets.

From the last two-sentence paragraph:

"The Rev. Steve Anthony, executive director of Toledo Area Ministries, said, “It will put a strain on all organizations that provide emergency food. We’re going to have to find alternatives. We can’t pull food or money out of thin air."

But I guess they think the kenyan can; he's the magical half-negro.

Been saying that about Hurricane Sandy victims. it’s bad and all but their states love Obozo so why should I care. Sorry, there might be good people caught up in it like Fox News personalities and freepers or whatever, but I have no love for that area of the country now. So Boo Hoo. Cry me a River.

And it PAYS! Some prescription drugs are in big demand on the street and people pay big bucks for them.

--Oxycontin: $50 to $80 on the street, vs. $6 when sold legally --Oxycodone: $12 to $40 on the street, vs. $6 retail
--Hydrocodone: $5 to $20 vs. $1.50
--Percocet: $10 to $15 vs. $6
--Vicodin: $5 to $25 vs. $1.50

Taken from Prescription drugs worth millions to dealers

I worked next to the welfare office and one day their secretary packed her stuff and quit. She said the clients were getting more in freebie benefits than she was working a 40 hour week and she was fed up.

Yes, free breakfasts and lunches at our public school... my tax dollars.

We scrimp and save and try to get it so we can eat steak maybe four times a month...

I can't remember the last time we could afford steak. Mr. b just got in from the store and is cussing a blue streak about the price of ground beef. He never shops but I'm under the weather. Now maybe he'll understand why we haven't even been having meatloaf lately.

My daughter has a family of 6 ( her, her husband 3 teens and one primary student ) ....she make the kids lunches and she has less to spend on food than her clients ..They never eat steak ..and it makes her mad too

Yep. There it is. Just what I posted about the welfare office secretary. How does it make any sense that those WORKING in the welfare office take home than the clients???

Government agencies have strange and twisted definitions of things like "family"

That could mean father/mother/kids or "Domestic Partners"/kids or just mothers/kids or God knows what else.

In some areas here dinner is also served in after school programs..and then there is the "summer lunch program"...

Look on the bright side they don't have to steal for extra money..they just sell the use of their card

Good. Add some food and gas inflation and you’ve got some real pain for 0-voters. One good thing about under reporting inflation via the CPI is that there will less liklihood of inflation adjusted increases.

Churches helping members in need is sort of traditional. I don’t suppose you’d see a stranger giving a drowning child CPR as “free health care”.

Lots of churches do this sort of thing right now, and you’re the first to suggest that it is a form of welfare.

Private help to food banks, etc. is going to diminish, not increase.

Paying taxes = Giving at the office.
