That was the plan all along, but the gov't didn't have the money, expertise, or infrastructure to run that kind of system, so they needed to buy some time, perhaps a decade. Thus, we get the stop-gap system, Obamacare.

It’s insane already. Here’s a list of health bennies I was sent upon an interview with a prospective employer, $2000 deductible and 70% co-insurance with the employer contributing $450/mo. Not bad for just me but for those with dependents it’s horrible.

Employee Coverage per month: $582.56
Employee + Spouse per month: $1281.63
Employee + Child (ren) per month: $1106.87
Family Coverage per month: $1805.94

Indeed. No accidents here, given the stated long term goal. Obamacare is, and is meant to be, only a transitional temporary fix, setting up the ultimate single-payer government-controlled national health system.
