Posted on 11/13/2012 11:37:37 AM PST by SeekAndFind
The more than 25,000 Sunshine Patriots who signed the petition to have Texas secede from the United States might get a response from the White House.
Looks like the Obama administration may have to respond to a petition seeking the green light for Texas to secede from the United States-one of 20 such requests filed on the official White House website since Election Day. At the time of the writing of this post, the Texas secession petition had garnered 25,318 signatures-above the White House's self-imposed rules for requiring a reply.
(A "Recount the election!" petition filed Nov. 10 had 16,238 signatures. "Regulate Internet Pornography"? Not a big winner. It was filed Nov. 4 and had only 501 signatures.)
The White House may opt out of replying. Under its own rules, "To avoid the appearance of improper influence, the White House may decline to address certain procurement, law enforcement, adjudicatory, or similar matters properly within the jurisdiction of federal departments or agencies, federal courts, or state and local government in its response to a petition." Other secession petitions include requests for Arkansas, South Carolina, Georgia, Missouri, Tennessee, Michigan, Colorado, Oregon, New Jersey, North Dakota, Montana, Indiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, North Carolina, Alabama and New York. (Spoiler alert: No, the White House won't approve secession.)
No, the White House won't approve secession. And yes, the signers are indeed sunshine patriots. To cut and run when things look bleak perfectly fits the description of Tom Paine, who wrote of them, ..."the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country..." "Shrink" is what these so-called Americans are doing. Giving up. Surrendering. Is there any other way to describe their cowardice?

I hope you’re right.
All the term “civil war” means is a war between citizens of the same country, as opposed to a foreign war which is between members of two or more countries. Now, you can take the South’s position that it ceased to be a part of the US once it said so, and therefore it was a foreign country. But by no means does the term imply the South was fighting for control of the US federal government. The American Revolutionary War, for instance, was a civil war in which the sides were fighting for the independence or dependence of the American colonies from the British empire.
Frankly, so do I. Something doesn’t smell right here. On face value, this doesn’t seem to make sense.
“This time the states will be on the right side of the moral issues”
What issue would that have been? Do you mean the “peculiar institution” that Lincoln proposed strengthening, lest the dearer principle of taxation founder?
“Here is a possible ‘hypothetical” scenario.
1. Obama attempts through Executive Order to outlaw guns. Part of that Order requires the immediate confiscation of all privately owned guns. Failure to comply will result in arrest, jail and fines...
Anyway, it might happen that way. You never know.”
Somebody already wrote a book along those lines. I can’t recall its name but it was some kind of collection of “diaries” written by a guy named Earl “Turner”, I think.
I heard that it’s freely downloadable in pdf format on the web, if you search for it.
Your argument would hold more water had there not been actual articles of confederation. The United States operated under the articles of confederation between 1781 and 1789. However, the founders purposefully gave us a constitution that shifted the political power from the states which held almost all the power, to a more balanced approach where states were sovereign but beholden to each other under more powerful central government. We became at that time, a nation, not a confederation of nations.
RE: Texas has 3 million on Medicare and 4.5 million on Medicaid.
Nearly one in Three in some form of Federal assistance huh?
Secession ain’t gonna happen. It would have been easier to do that before the time of FDR. Not anymore.
similarities between obama and hitler:
Both Hitler and Obama held rallies in outdoor stadiums to excite and inflame the people’s passions. Frequently women would faint or break into tears.
Hitler and Obama wrote ghost-written autobiographies prior to the start
of theri run for political office. Hitler wrote Mein Kampf (My
Struggle), and Obama wrote Dreams Of My Father. Both men then wrote a
second book talking about their goals for Germany and America. Hitler wrote A New World Order, and Obama wrote The Audacity of Hope.
Both Hitler and Obama originally had last names that were changed later in life. Hitler used to be Schickelbruber, and Obama’s last name was Soetoro.
Both Hitler and Obama hid their real identities. Hitler had a Jewish ancestry, and Obama - a Muslim one. But unlike Hitler, Obama flaunted
his Muslim roots in his start as a politician in order to defuse the
inevitable firestorm. His ploy of “hiding in plain sight” worked very
Both Hitler and Obama’s supporters followed them blindly, and without question
Both Hitler and
Obama used political power and coercion to conceal and hide their birth
certificates from coming to public view. Hitler made his disappear, and
Obama is unwilling and unable to produce his long-form birth certificate.
Hitler and Obama advocate using young people as a driving force to
create an “army” of youth dedicated to their Ideals. Hitler had his Hitler Youth, and Obama his Obama Youth Brigade.
Both Hitler and Obama were known for their tremendous oratorical skills
Both Hitler and Obama received Messianic comparisons, and both men had songs of adoration written about them and for them.
Like Hitler, Obama rules in direct disregard to the will and wishes of the people.
Like Hitler, Obama has an obvious distaste for the Jews, and sides with the Muslims every chance he gets.
Both Hitler and Obama were able to mezmerize the people even when it was obvious that what they were saying was not true.
Both Hitler and
Obama used domestic terrorists to launch their careers. Hitler had his
Brown Shirts from his beer hall days, and Obama had people like Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, and Rashid Khalidi.
Like Hitler, Obama advocates using murder as a means of population control.
As far as many others and myself are concerned, he already is.
Well put. I suppose he thinks it was “sunshine mariners” who left the Titanic.

You are aware that the court has reversed itself on several occasions. I say go for it and let Obozo take it to the Suprmemes.
I think the CW has already started. It’s just in the cold stages right now.
It’s just a matter of time before the lead starts to fly.
I hope you are correct but I fear that the Repubicans don't have the stones to do anything.
It will definitely be “go time” when the consequences of the fiscal cliff come to pass and the gov’t freebies can no longer be fulfilled.
wait the minute, New Jersey and New York wants to secede? And Oregon? Sorry, the 'Free REPUBLIC STATES of America' does NOT any blue states. We need to show the blue states that FREEDOM does work...
You left out the step where the police shoot a bunch of dogs.
Thanks for the link Thackney. I appreciate the thought behind it. IMO, this amounts to nothing more than falling in upon ourselves. Our enemies would love nothing more.
Freedom does work.
And that’s why the left won’t ever let an example of it exist.
