On Friday, Scott Whitlock reported ABC's Good Morning America reported the morning show milked the 18,000 jobs lost in the shutdown of Hostess for laughs. The same laughing at pink slips occurred Saturday on National Public Radio's game show Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. Players were given a question after NPR newscaster Karl Kasell asked in a low growl "Where are you, you spongy yellow delicious bastards?"
Host Peter Sagal explained Kasell was delivering a Woody Harrelson line about Twinkies from the movie Zombieland. After a contestant answered that it was Hostess that shut down this week, Sagal started the wise cracks. "Hostess Incorporated, they make Twinkies, Ding-Dongs, Wonder Bread, Fudge Puppies, Fat Crammers, and Lard Bursts [laughter]...said they would liquidate the company if striking workers didnt come back to work." Of course, there was also a Chris Christie joke:
Yeah, the party of the little man.
“Hey, christie. Looks like your useful idiot status with libs is over.”
Yep, lot of good kissing 0’s ring did. Republicans never learn; guess that’s why many refer to them as ‘the stupid party’.
More of Obama’s “Higher Calling”. Did you see the woman at Obama’s press conference who was from Chicago? What a coincidence that she sits right next to the FOX News reporter and Obama chooses her.
“Hostess Incorporated, they make Twinkies, Ding-Dongs, Wonder Bread, Fudge Puppies, Fat Crammers, and Lard Bursts [laughter]...said they would liquidate the company if striking workers didnt come back to work.” Of course, there was also a Chris Christie joke:
Sounds like a gay joke.
Look, if the lefties don’t care about the unions, I won’t lose much sleep over them either.
And did you read where the polling data said the only area Obama led Romney was when they asked, “Who cares more about me?” Hahahahahahahahahahahaha! Those caring Democrats!
They are turning into fascist totalitarians right before our eyes. Oh well.
I never ate much from Hostess, but it was an American icon. :(
I have a friend and his wife who are retired union bakers. She is arthritic and almost blind, he has COPD even though he never smoked, but Hostess failing has a big impact on their pension payment funding. It already has had an impact since Hostess hasn’t contributed the the trust for over a year.
I can assure you, my friend has a different opinion of these union members. Unfortunately, the Hostess union isn’t the same union my buddy belonged to, but they suffer because they all pay into the same managed trust, or did.
Don’t hear anybody talking about the retiree’s getting shafted by these moron’s.
Little men who through their unions decided the jobs weren’t good enough to exist any more. Under the circumstances, I think chuckling is permitted.
Typical. A bunch of lefty elitists looking down and laughing at the lowly peons in “flyover country” losing their jobs and livelihoods, coupled with the usual condescending disdain for a product associated with “americana.” A company dies, and they make merry.
Fully encapsulates the mentality of the media. Loathesome handmaidens for their socialist, ruling-class masters.
Their union boss makes $210,000+ a year
Indeed, sneering at their inferiors is a favorite liberal pass time. But in this case, note that they are actually making fun of people who eat hostess products, not the people who used to make them.
And that's what my plan does: Making sure that we're bringing manufacturing back to our shores so that we're creating jobs here, as we've done with the auto industry...I've got a different vision for America. I want to build on our strengths. And I put forward a plan to make sure that we're bringing manufacturing jobs back to our shores by rewarding companies and small businesses that are investing here not overseas.
You're off to a good start.

Liberal elites and people who work for a living have nothing in common...
True. In fact, their obnoxious derision is directed at mid-America, more than anything... via the company itself and the type of people who bought the product
It is so telling, though. Think about it. Even with the many exasperating biases the media had twenty, thirty, forty years ago... could anyone imagine the newsmedia actually treating the story of the death of a near-historic, longstanding American business as nothing more than some big joke? A big joke, dripping with condescension?
We had to destroy the company in order to save it....
The new DNC mission statement.
that’s alright, I was listening to the blues show and heard Algore was coming on next, and managed to hit the switch in plenty of time. You want to call in during their pledge drives ant tell your NPR affiliate that you’d love to donate money to help keep them on the air - as soon as they start devoting at least 50% of their airtime to conservative programming. It drive them nuts.
