USS Gunston Hall — what the heck is the significance of a southern house to get the navy to name a ship after it?

USS Gunston Hall (LSD-44) is a Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship of the United States Navy. She was the second Navy ship to be named for Gunston Hall, the Mason Neck, Virginia estate of George Mason, one of Virginia’s outstanding Revolutionary figures, and “Father of the Bill of Rights”.

It’s where the nation’s elites get to play - and since it’s ‘charity’ it’s a tax write off.... Wouldn’t you just love to be a ‘member’ and get this Christmas deal for only $17. Everyday people can hardly take the kids to Mickie D’s for that ....
