Egypt's 'Islamist Coup'
AmericanThinker.com ^ | 11/24/2012 | Rick Moran

Posted on 11/24/2012 7:09:42 AM PST by RoosterRedux

Mr. Morsi says his diktat will merely last as long as it takes the country to adopt a new constitution, which is what authoritarians always say. They claim to be a necessary step on the way to democracy, but democracy never arrives. Mr. Morsi's rationalization is that he must have this power to "protect the revolution," as if the demonstrators who deposed Hosni Mubarak in 2011 merely wanted another Mubarak with a beard and prayer rug. Mr. Morsi is claiming more power than Mr. Mubarak ever had.

Egyptians took to the street on Friday in protest, sometimes violently, and nearly every other major political leader denounced the putsch. That includes Abdel Monheim Aboul Fotouh, a former Muslim Brotherhood leader and presidential candidate. The violence is regrettable, but the protests may be the only way Egyptians can prevent the Muslim Brotherhood from becoming their new dictators.

*snip*

US support has enabled Morsi's power grabs since he took office. As long as there were no consequences for sacking generals who weren't Islamists, taking power from the legislature, and instituting Sharia law, Morsi could act with impunity.

But this move to put himself above the judiciary is different and if Obama won't punish Egypt for Morsi's rise to the dictatorship, then the US congress should. A move to withhold aid could rouse the Egyptian military who could force him to back down. That's about all that the Egyptians have left to stop the Muslim Brotherhood from a complete takeover of the country.

From democratic revolution to dictatorship in six months... aided and abetted by Obama, Clinton, and their minions. Where is the democracy we were promised from the “Arab Spring”. A bunch of amateurs who are ignoring what they have wrought... hoping it will just go away! No plan. No leadership. No hope!

The violence isn’t regretable. In fact, there needs to be much more of it. The modernists may yet lose, but the current status is rapidly turning into an Islamist dictatorship with Obama’s support and blessing. The Christian Copts are particularly at risk and probably have no future in Egypt other than an enslaved minority.

Well, why would we pretend he didn’t talk to these guys the same way he did the Russians? Because he got caught on a hot mike and “learned his lesson” not to be seditious?

And keep in the back of your mind that any of Morsi’s two children (boys I believe) who were born in the USA (Morsi was doing professor work) are eligible to be POTUSA according to some people. I believe this is what the Founding Fathers in their wisdom and experience with foreign countries were so dedicated to prevent. With the rapidly growing Muslim population along with the get-a-longers the Founding Fathers must be turning in their graves, but the USA populace has other matters such as ball games, rock concerts and Hollywood support for social balm.

Looks like another election-for-life. Hamas won an election-for-life a few years ago. Before that, Yasser Arafat. Although maybe Morsi will have another election in ten or twenty years where he gets 100% of the vote like Saddam Hussein.

democracy complete with its infrastructure of rights, freedoms, liberty are a construct of Magna Carta which is a distillation of 1200 years of Christianity.

All of this is antithetical to Christianity.
