Obama’s Energy Mandate: More Oil and Gas
The Energy Tribune ^ | Peter Glover

Posted on 11/26/2012 11:28:58 AM PST by Mr. Doctor

During the presidential campaign Barack Obama was “economical with the truth” to say the least on energy matters. Claiming personal credit for the success of the shale gas and oil industry took some ‘Chicago politics’ hutzpah given the development took place mostly on private land. But with the fiscal cliff looming on January 1, the President will be involved in making some critical energy policy decisions. So just what is the president’s electoral mandate for his second-term? Will he throw his anti-fossil fuel ideology under the bus and in the economic interest of the nation? Or he will he persist in the expensive and highly-subsidized fiction of “millions of green jobs”?

Well the fact is, if a recent report publishing details of an election night on the issue of energy is anything to go by, the President has received a very specific cross-party mandate: more domestic oil and gas, please Mr President.

TOPICS: Business/Economy; Government; Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: energy; gas; obama; oil
Voters, both Republican and Democratic, think Obama should pursue more oil and gas development. Hopefully, he will listen and sanity will prevail. I won't hold my breath.

Obama answers to a higher source--himself.

Oil and gas have been doing ok DESPITE the EPA thugs and Obama... It’s shale extraction technology which is coping with these evil policies... but that will be the next marxist stop: destroy all technological incentive in the US that cope.

No good deed will be unpunished because bad deeds of welfare, decadence, corruption, free amnesties this and that cannot be punished.

0bama is an ideologue who hates this nation. The writer and question are stupid.

Of course 0bama will throw "fossil" fuel and the nation under the bus. Duh!

There was a big scare-article in the paper this weekend about the EVIL MINING of sand. Yes, sand.

Sand is necessary to fracking. So, the enviro-commies are trying to make SAND evil.

It’s a steep challenge, but they’re up for it!

Two very good posts by Uncle Miltie. Fossil fuels will be the target on Obama’s green list, and will be enforced by Lisa Jackson’s “boot on the throat” EPA.

Look for the “Clean Water Act” to come into play. as each hydraulicly fractured well uses not only the EVIL SAND (shudder), but also around 2-4 million gallons of water.

I know I am in the minority here, but I do believe that Barry is going to throw his Greenie supporters under the bus and pursue expanded oil and gas development.

If he plans to grow government as rapidly as he appears to, he will absolutely need that revenue, no doubt.

If 0bama cared about actual tax revenue, he would lower the rates as the Laffer Curve dictates.

Raising rates will REDUCE revenue (given our current total tax rate), as any sane economist will tell you.

Ergo, 0bama does not “absolutely need that revenue”.

Your assumption is that he cares about revenue, spending, debt, deficits, people, America, Americans, etc.

NO. It’s about CONTROL.

0bama will crush Energy so he can control us. Why do they hate cars so much and want us on Public Transport? CONTROL.

Movement is FREEDOM. They can’t have it. You want heat? Apply to Mommy Government and be a good little Prole, or you FREEZE TO DEATH.

That’s the plan.

So, is his priority to grow the government or crash America?

Seems you’ve identified a conflict.

Crash America.

He’s a Communist and an Islamist.

Killing America IS THE PLAN.

Control you, kill America. We are evil, we must be crushed.

When I see and hear the “pros” complain about “demographics’ Obama’s energy policy was an issue which wasn’t even touched. This issue crossed into every “demographic” and should have been hammered away at. The reason it wasn’t is they tripped over global warming . Well the sun does not revolve around the earth.

You know, when I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, uh, you know - Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I'm capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it - whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers.

Killing America IS THE PLAN.

That may well be tucked away in the back of his mind. But the people who really want America taken out are the people who bankrolled him. Obama may actually believe he's saving the world from climate change, and is their useful idiot.

Interesting extention of the Geneva concept. US sand was being mined in the US because it produced helium for balloons germans could not have. Germans wanted to outlaw the use of the shot gun in battle too. Interesting cheat gun crimes records come to mind.
