Exclusive: Jeb Bush Meets with Former Aides near White House (NO!)
National Review Online ^ | November 26, 2012 | Robert Costa

Posted on 11/26/2012 3:36:01 PM PST by Timber Rattler

Former Florida governor Jeb Bush met Monday with a group of his former staffers at the J. W. Marriott hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue, just steps from the White House. Bush, a potential 2016 presidential contender, spent an hour in the hotel’s Cannon room, reminiscing and entertaining questions about his political future.

In an interview with NRO, Bush did not rule out a presidential run. “I am here to catch up with folks and promote education reform,” he said, smiling.

When asked again whether he will issue a Sherman-type statement about his future, Bush remained coy. “We have an alumni group that I like keeping in touch with,” he said. “I’m here to focus on educational reform, and that’s what I’m going to tell people.”

Neil Newhouse, Mitt Romney’s campaign pollster, among other GOP operatives, was at the meeting.

On Tuesday, Bush will host a national summit on education reform. Education secretary Arne Duncan, former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice, and Indiana governor Mitch Daniels, among others, will speak at the event.

And so the GOP's cycle of political suicide begins anew.

It'll never learn.

It's high time that we send it the way of the Whigs and start a real Conservative Party, without any more Bushes, Roves, or Romneys.

The GOPe gives brand new meaning to the term ‘tin ear’.

This is a scare job. The insiders want to scare away ryan.

If this was serious they could also mention the JW Marriot is across the street from the Ronald Reagan center.

Yeah, and you just know that Romney's old staff members and worthless political consultants are all out looking for their next pay checks, and Jeb now has the money.

Repeat process.

What will never end is how the Republicans/conservatives hammer away at people who are our people. This website hammered Romney unceasingly and were it not for so called conservatives like those on this board being so negative for so long, we might be saying president elect Romney. I’m really sick of people bashing the Bushes. If they win, then they win. If you want purity, enter a monastery for crying out loud.

Jeb must be delusional to the point of insanity. When people can’t find their keys they think it’s the fault of somebody named Bush. In 2016 there will be new voters who won’t even know who GW Bush was but will know that it is Bush’s fault. Kind of like people asked, in Atlas Shrugged, who is John Galt without knowing who he was.

He doesn’t stand a chance in 2016. After two losses with moderates, conservatives won’t be fooled again by the ‘electability’ mantra. Not enough for Jeb to stand a chance anyway. The question is, who will it be?

Four years is an eternity in politics, particularly if the economy continues to sour.

Nope. the ‘conservatives’ (as they call themselves) will scream bloody murder for 3 years. However, with a few months to go before the election, they will turn on anyone who does not suddenly throw their principles to the wind and embrace the man they themselves spent said 3 years fighting against.

This will be followed by silence when their candidate loses.

THAT will be followed by a rediscovery of those principles for 3 years...until the GOP threatens them with more doom/gloom and offers up the next and even less conservative candidate.

See the past several election cycles for unarguable documentation of the above.

It's high time that we send it the way of the Whigs and start a real Conservative Party, without any more Bushes, Roves, or Romneys.

Why do we need to start another 3rd party? There are plenty of 3rd party's already in existence. Take your pick. You can join the Constitution Party, or the Libertarian Party, or FR's own EternalVigilance's America's Party, etc, etc. Adding another one to the list isn't going to make this 3rd party nonsense any more successful.

And so the GOP's cycle of political suicide begins anew.

I agree another Bush would be a disaster. Saying that, we have primary's to sort these things out. If Jeb Bush wins the nomination it will be because enough GOP primary voters elected him. There is nothing stopping real conservatives from running from within the GOP. They are not going to win the nomination if they are poor candidates though, and that is precisely what happened last time.

Jeb Bush??

His wife tried to smuggle in thousands of dollars worth of designer clothes from Europe.

Aren’t there any decent people in politics?

I am surprised that the GOPe does not find a descendant of Herbert Hoover and run him or her for president.

It’s over. I mean REALLY over!
I gave theses clowns one more one-more chance with Mittens.
I swear, no more lesser of the two evils.
The GOP is a shriveled up pile of crap.
This country is so damned divided there will never be a bringing together of the masses. How many demographic groups are there now? Think about it.
GOPe, you can stick it in your ear! I will think of you as I do the leftist commies.
If there are any conservative, constitutionalist, God-fearing, America loving men and women left in that party of fools I suggest you get out now. Before they ruin you too. Join the Tea Party and let’s get this ball rolling.
