Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said Wednesday that House Republicans should stop negotiating with President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats on the fiscal cliff, saying that by doing so, they give Obama all of the leverage in the talks.
“One of the things I would say to House Republicans is to get a grip,” Gingrich said in a speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif.
“They are the majority. They’re not the minority,” he said, enunciating the words as if explaining the concept to someone who did not understand it. “They don’t need to cave in to Obama; they don’t need to form a ‘Surrender Caucus.’”
“So my number one bit of advice to the congressional Republicans is simple: Back out of of all of this negotiating with Obama. The president is overwhelmingly dominant in the news media. You start setting up the definition of success finding an agreement with Obama, you just gave Obama the ability to say to you, ‘Not good enough,’” Gingrich said.

Yep, once the stupid party use the demonic-rats words “the wealthy” or “the rich,” instead of “small business owners,” or “the job creators” they lose three quarters of the battle.
The GOP has never learned how to frame an argument and never learned to stop trying to make friends with the enemy media.

Exactly. Newt is the only Republican of any stature who understands Realpolitik: i.e, "political realism or practical politics, especially policy based on power rather than on ideals."
Obama and the Left understand it very well. They ultimately agree with Mao's Little Red Book comment: "Every Communist must grasp the truth, political power grows out of the barrel of a gun."
Find a spine would be better. Millions and millions of us voted not to have big government. Let those that did pay for it themselves.
The extended circumstances on “not negotiating” are thus:
The Roberts’ SCOTUS has already provided us (in the mandate v. “fee” or “tax”) that elections trump EVERYTHING...even the Constitution as written!
If the populace has found (by election) that the US needs to spend more/tax more/increase entitlements, then even the Constitution should not stand in the way.
The Constitution is amended every 2 years in the federal election cycle. Let it fail and be prepared.
Don't care who said it first...( Hell thousands of us probably did...right after the election...)
Whatever happens...down the road. Let the Dims own it, lock stock and barrel.
Newt gets one right. Even a blind hog finds and acorn every now and then and Newt apparently found a pretty good acorn with this. The Republicans need to stop kissing 0's backside and act like they are representing the people who elected them, not the greedy bureaucrats and parasites who want ever more from those of us who work.

Yep! The House needs to just sit back and watch. This cliff was agreed upon on the last limit rise. Just let it go. Obama owns his socialism. The republicans need to just back away.
The House should negotiate with the Senate, not the President.
Let Harry Reid deal with Obama. Boehner should be dealing with McConnell and Reid. Leave Obama on the outside until the Congress aligns on a compromise first.
Then let Obama have a whack at it.
Otherwise, Boehner is bringing Obama into Congressional deliberations, a place where Obama does not belong.

You and I are or we wouldn’t be commenting on this thread. Too bad the House Republicans won’t listen to the voice of experience instead of cowering before Obama.
