Protesters are shouting on bullhorns again in Cairo's Tahrir Square, outraged that an extremist interpretation of Islam is being forced down their throats by a president who critics say is acting every part the tyrant.

The era of the Muslim Brotherhood appears to have arrived. President Obama has hailed the Brotherhood's President Mohammed Morsi as a pragmatist who helped end the Gaza crisis. Egyptians here think the Brotherhood has conned Washington, just like it conned them.

The protestors might have been conned, but the voters got exactly what they wanted. The rise of the portable tent as the most popular fashion among Muslim women around the world is not the result of government coercion - it's a reflection of a deeper societal trend among Muslims that has embraced a Koran-centric view of government and society.
