Ingraham closes in on a return to radio.

Conservative talk host Laura Ingraham expects to be back on the air “in the next several days.” When she does return, the program may be unfamiliar to some listeners. She’s not offering many specifics, but in an interview with a Houston station, Ingraham hints it will be more of an entertainment-based show than what’s she’s done for the past 11 years.

“It’s time for a new show and it’s time for a new focus that really embraces the culture and expands the conservative reach,” Ingraham told KSEV host Edd Hendee during an appearance yesterday on his morning show. Ingraham thinks conservatives have “left a vacuum” in popular culture that may be turning off some people to the traditional talk radio format. “Crusading on the radio is sometimes not entertaining,” she conceded. That’s a sentiment quietly echoed by some talk radio programmers who worry that while the genre remains stable, the move to FM by many stations hasn’t always been accompanied by changes needed to freshen the format. Arbitron says a majority of news-talk radio’s audience is at least 55 years old, and the format has aged with Baby Boomers. “Everyone wants to be entertained and they want to learn something at the same time,” Ingraham said. “But we all need laughter too and that’s what I will bring to the radio — we’ll have a slightly different focus and I think people are going to like it.”

Ingraham told Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly last night that she informed TRN “a couple of months ago” that she was leaving the network. “I’m close to signing a new deal,” she said. “I’ll be back on the air probably in the next several days.”

Breitbart would agree...

So Laura may soon be back but maybe more entertainment stuff? Pop culture? Less “political stuff that turns some people off”..? More details as I get them. She is hinting “within days” and already there has been talk she may at least broker time on WTNT in the DC area to keep going in the Capitol region, for now, till she can get a full rollout nationwide.

Is the healthy radio addiction about to change a bit?

Mixing pop culture and politics has always been what she has tried to do. Nothing new here, and I used to listen to her all the time when she first started her show. I quit listening because there is too much “soft” material and opinion and not enough facts. Oh, and she’s always pushing us to buy the music she happens to play, etc., through her links.

I wouldn’t listen if she becomes a TMZ on radio or something like that.

It will be hard for her to regain a audience after a gap in on air time. Medved supposedly does the pop culture thing, etc.

I'm very careful with my money in these difficult times. But I would instantly send a healthy donation to Fox if they would replace Bill O’Reilly with Laura Ingraham.

Yes but I think her idea to do a bit more non-political stuff to maybe bring in new listeners and give the political stuff a breather for an hour or so. Similar to what Howie (Carr) has done in the past.

—Worst record ever
—Worst car you ever had
—Current movies or TV shows (paging Max Robins)
—Let’s talk to Mike Love (Beach Boys) or Chip Davis
(Mannheim Steamroller)
—Talking to a mystery author
—What will you and your wife fight about this weekend?
—Who needs to “retire” from the media?

"Fairness Doctrine" radio? I had four decades of it.. no thanks!

But I cannot imagine Ms Ingraham going to that extreme.

I always enjoyed her forays into culture and the arts. This has been one of her strongpoints, and when she teams with Raymond Arroyo it really gets lively. That is when her show is the most compelling to me, when the synergy between those two gets going.

That’s what I’m thinking. When I hear her say “pop” I am sure she’s not going to pander to the liberal hollywood/media crowd. But if we’re planning to win elections again, the conservative message has got to start getting put out other ways that Sean Hannity blabbering “serious” crap in repetitive monotones.

We need the next generation of Rush who aren’t going to turn off the <55 listener who comes across a conservative talk show on the FM radio.

I wonder if she'll lead or follow fat ole Mike O'Meara (of Don & Mike fame) who'll have a new show on WTNT in January.

In our local market Tami Bruce has been on...that woman’s voice makes me crazy...can’t stand her shows...ingraham is not far behind. Also Rose of Quinn and rose makes me crazy too. I turn it off if she is on the show that morning. Must be me...I have political fatigue...and just have to step back and reevaluate American society, but some of our female talk show hosts I just can’t take.

She is the quickest smartest most talented radio personality out there She recently said “I don’t want to hear that mans name again”, which is exactly what she’d be doing if things stayed the same.

Ever see this lady throw a softball ? Scary good as is everything she does.

No I’m not family nor her agent, just a fan

One should NEVER forgive NOR forget her attitude and stance during the 2012 GOP primaries.

She did EVERYTHING in her show to ridicule, downplay and derail every conservative candidate, try to knock them out one by one, all the while fawning support for her favorite from the beginning, MITT ROMNEY as the most electable.

I remember Laura Ingraham's scurrilous joining libs in leftist journlism like Politico and RINO mainstreamers like Karl Rove in savaging people like Herman Cain when he was down on his luck (he escaped the Democratic/RINO plantation and thereby a threat), casting doubts and aspersions, making fun of him (and others before and afterwards), piling on just like the libs were doing as these in fact were the biggest threats to Obongo in the General. The last straw was her treatment of Rick Santorum, essentially the last man standing against official GOP country club RINOism (which she supports). Occasionally for show and to have a clean slate, she should have an offhand, velvet glove attack on the Mittster, but it would be minor and short lived, one could tell it was just so much fakery to appear to be "fair" to all candidates, but this one was in the RINO bag from the beginning. We should never forget all that from early and mid 2012 about this Laura Ingraham individual. I would prefer she not even return to "conservative" talk radio at all just for that alone, the patent treachery. We gotta weed out the herd here folks, and get behind the true believers and not the trojan horses and fakers.

I can’t get over the fact that Laura’s voice sounds like a rusty nail on a chalkboard. Ghastly radio voice, way too strident.

That too, in addition to the doctrinaire RINOism coming from Laura's mouth nonstop masquerading as conservatism. Typical "Pseudo conservative." More comfortable with the K street, Dartmouth Alumni Groups and Georgetown Cocktain Party crowds, than Tea Parties or Middle America or Ronald Reagan.
