Trying to watch Dallas vs Philadelphia football game. Just watched announcer gave an anti-gun rant. Why is this allowed? Turned off TV.

Hey NBC, what ads are you showing now? Oops, your idiot broadcast is blocked from my TV. Send an email, thanks.

Not my words and I don’t recall the source...
If guns kill people then;
Pencils misspell words
cars make people drive drunk
& spoons made Rosie O’Donnell fat!

some of these tweets are hysterically funny: Demetrius Minor ‏@dminor85 #WhatBobCostasBelieves that the Navy Seals should've captured Osama bin Laden in a fishing net.

I wonder how much playing with a brain concussion and being on pain medication contributed to this? There are a lot of “legal” drugs you can get if you are in the NFL.

They’re getting nailed on the Sunday Night Football FB page. It’s ugly.

Here’s the whole quote:

“Well you knew it was coming. In the aftermath of the nearly unfathomable events in Kansas City, that most mindless of sports clichés was heard yet again: “Something like this really puts it all in perspective.”

Well, if so, that sort of perspective has a very short shelf life. Since we will inevitably learn about the perspective we have supposedly again regained the next time ugly reality intrudes upon our games.

Please. Those that need tragedies to continually recalibrate their sense of proportions about sports would seem to have little hope of ever truly achieving perspective. You want some actual perspective on this? Well, a bit of it comes from the Kansas City based writer Jason Whitlock, with whom I do not always agree, but who today said it so well, that we may as well just quote, or paraphrase, from the end of his article:

“Our current gun culture,” Whitlock wrote, “ensures that more and more domestic disputes will end in the ultimate tragedy, and that more convenience-store confrontations over loud music coming from a car will leave more teenage boys bloodied and dead… Handguns do not enhance our safety. They exacerbate our flaws, tempt us to escalate arguments, and bait us into embracing confrontation rather than avoiding it.”

In the coming days, Jovan Belcher’s actions and their possible connections to football will be analyzed. “Who knows? But here,” wrote Jason Whitlock, “is what I believe: if Jovan Belcher didn’t possess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today.”

The second half is next.”

- Bob Costas, 12/2/12 halftime commentary Cowboys/Eagles game, Sunday Night Football, NBC.

Yawn. This is nothing new from the MSM/ They all jumped on the anti-gun bandwagon in the mid 1960s.

The late 1960s were rough for gun owners, and the 1970s were worse, Almost every cop show on TV managed to write in an anti-gun message.
Richard Boone as Heck Ramsey had an anti-gun segment,
All in the family,
Dennis Weaver in McCloud, and way too many others all managed to incorperate an anti-gun message.

Even documentaries like SAY GOODBY and THE GUNS OF AUGUST ripped up gun owners real bad.

TV movies were real bad at that time. Mike Connors in REVENGE FOR A RAPE was one. It badmouthed gun ownership, hunting, and personal vengeance, all in one.

You have that right Old. I haven’t payed much attention to the NFL since Bart Starr, Paul Hornung and Jimmy Taylor retired. Now there were some football players!

For Sunday Night Football to take this measure is very stupid. They blame the method vs the reason. They are clearly trying to reflect any damage or lifestyle the sport is responsible for.

Bob Costas can suck ass. He knows better.

NBC is getting absolutely hammered on twitter. I find the photos of the people making comments to be rather enlightening too. A number of them have been (and probably still are, LOL) Black.

I'm weak. I knew I should have stopped watching NBC's Sunday Night Football years ago. But as I said on another thread, this is it for me.

I love football but this network can go to Hell.

Costas (NBC) was quoting an article by Jason Whitlock written for Fox Sports.

Both NBC and Fox Sports were responsible for your halftime indoctrination.
