When former AutoZone employee Devin McClean grabbed his gun from his car and chased an armed robber out of his store, he didn’t think his quick thinking would get him fired.

But it did:

“I was in fear of my life as soon as he walked through the door and I see the gun. Your heart just starts pounding,” McClean told NewsChannel 3.

As it turns out, McClean’s Yorktown, Va., store was being robbed by the so-called “fake-beard bandit” (probably the worst nickname in the history of crime), a criminal who had already knocked over about 30 businesses in the Virginia Peninsula area.

As the gunman forced the manager to unlock the store’s safe, McClean, a 23-year-old Air Force veteran, slipped out the back to retrieve his Glock 40 from his truck.

The anti-freedom forces have had considerable success in promoting the false narrative that you are better off giving in to criminals rather than resisting them.

Armed resistance has been shown as the most successful in preventing crimes, and the least likely to result in injury to the victim.

Mental note: Avoid doing business at AutoZone. It is unsafe for my health.

This is probably their insurance company speaking, not the company.

It may be their insurance company speaking but then they’re the customer and should be shopping for a new insurance company.

It IS the company speaking.

You know what’s so funny is they fired the guy to avoid a PC backlash that AutoZone employees have guns on the premises. The even funnier thing is PC people 1. Don’t own cars they work on themselves. 2. Have their work done at AutoZone.

They have a bread and butter conservative type customer base.

“Have their work done at AutoZone”

AutoZone is only a retail store. They don’t work on cars as the term “work” is generally defined by an automotive repair place. They are pretty much limited to checking engine fault codes and changing batteries and wiper blades.

From the article:Other than to reiterate the company’s zero tolerance policy on weapons inside stores, AutoZone representatives refuse to comment on McClean’s firing.

Ha, so I am sure the perp is banned for life at Autozone.

My email to autozone:

"There are plenty of companies to choose from when purchasing auto parts.

From now on, I won't be choosing Autozone.

Instead, I will buy my auto parts from a company without a history of punishing their employees for exercising their Constitutional rights.

Your company is making a political statement by firing Devin McClean. I (and thousands of others) will make our own statement and shop elsewhere."

Mine:

In honor of AutoZone's decision to fire Devin McClean for defending his and fellow employee's lives, I will no longer patronize your stores. You have a choice in how you run your business. I also have a choice in whether I patronize it.

They are pretty much limited to checking engine fault codes and changing batteries and wiper blades.

All of which might as well be rocket science to the type of PC fool that 'PittsburghAfterDark' was describing.

IF I were to open an auto parts store, I would hire the guy. First, he has the balls to protect my investment, my customers and himself. Second, he is a “Veteran” that knows what to do when the chips are down. I do not fault him for his actions on that day.

My comment to the AZ site: (and BTW, hiding behind insurance issues just underscores my contention that hey are a bunch of cowards in the Exec Suite at AZ and not worthy of our patronage)

To AZ Management:

My rewards/loyalty card is going into the shredder as soon as I finish this comment about your firing Mr. McClean, the hero who intervened to prevent possible injury or loss of life in your Yorktown, Va store. The INCREDIBLE stupidity and bias of such action by AZ Management is beyond description.

AZ has been my auto parts store of choice for many years, but I will forever more go out of my way to shop elsewhere.

Your Management Staff are COWARDS and Politically Correct Dupes.

How would any of you feel if one of your relatives had been in that store, with Mr. McClean standing idly by while they were slaughtered by a dereanged thief?????

UNBELIEVABLE and PATHETIC behavior by supposed mature adults in charge of a major US company. No Wonder the US is in such horrible shape these days.
