CIVIL WAR II America’s new cold war
Self ^ | 2012 | Steve Newton

Posted on 12/05/2012 4:24:06 PM PST by Steve Newton

After a contentious election sometimes emotions run high. The winners are jubilant and the losers are despondent. This time it’s different. After 4 years of an “us against them” policy this nation has never been as divided as we are now since the first civil war. What may have been a deliberate policy to win an election may well transform into a monster that will devour us all.

There was too fighting in the Cold War, directly and by proxy. Using the term “cold war” the way you do is a rhetorical cheat. You would have to alter the meaning of war too much in order to receive the benefit of the old definition. Maybe that’s how Orwell originally meant it, but then he should have taken advice from his own essay “Politics and the English Language.”

By the way, if merely having enemies but not fighting is a cold war than the entire history of mankind is one giant cold war.

We have $16+ trillion in debt with a $1+ trillion deficit. What will happen... will happen.

The only thing conservatives have working for them is that socialism doesn't work. Centralized egalitarism will backfire, and the democrats will have to deal with the fallout caused by their pyrrhic political victories.

The best way to act is to focus on the self, family, church, and community. Increase your savings, diversify away from the dollar, and maintain your self-reliance.

The democrats' political strength is also their weakness.

Thank you for your opinion.

But what do you think of the concept?

You miss the whole point of the article if you concentrate on one small item.

The Civil War Two Cube was made by one of our Freeper's, Matt Bracken, who did his book series, "Enemies Foreign and Domestic." BTW, I'd ping Matt as per FR etiquette but I can't remember his user name.

This needs a CWII ping.

Then my hat is off to Matt

” We all hope and pray that there will never be a second “hot civil war” in America, instead of merely the “cold civil war” we are engaged in today. “

It's about truth and ideas. If people were generally educated, the money from Soros wouldn't matter. Maybe natural law will educate the people, and maybe they could learn many of life's lessons, like:

1) There is no free lunch
2) Being a US citizen has responsibilities
3) Higher taxes will likely bring in less revenue
4) The multiplier effect in government spending is negative
5) Organized labor and minimum wage laws increase unemployment
6) Subsidized businesses are often corrupt and always inefficient
7) Private property is the key to liberty and economic vibrance
8) Increasing progressive taxes and regulation hurts social mobility
9) The US is not in a closed system, global competition will force us to work harder and be more innovative to just maintain our quality of living
10) Inflation is destructive
11) Demand is limitless, but supply is scarce
12) Negative interest bonds make no sense
13) Real trickle up economics happens when individuals are productive, creative, and prudent
14) If you manage your money well, you will get more

Touché. I guess FDR pretty much was President for Life. Hard to see that happening for anyone else, though.

I think I've asked Travis about this before, but isn't there an error in the bullet points listing the six sides or "faces" of the cube? Everything tracks the diagram logically but the rural and urban (near and far) faces, which the bullet points appear to show reversed.

What say y'all?

Yeah, it’s a mistake, but it’s the version that’s all over the internet. Now I look at it like the intentional errors map makers incorporate. It shows if folks are paying attentino. Really, the cube is just notional, so folks should just “get it” at a glance, before discovering the error.

I drew a pencil sketch, and another blogger created it, and the error was born.
