In response to reports that Barack Obama is likely to choose Chuck Hagel to be the next secretary of defense, a top Republican Senate aide emails, "Send us Hagel and we will make sure every American knows he is an anti-Semite."
When asked to elaborate, the aide writes, "Hagel has made clear he believes in the existence of a nefarious Jewish lobby that secretly controls U.S. foreign policy. This is the worst kind of anti-Semitism there is."
The top aide Republican Senate aide passes along this quotation from Hagel: The political reality is that
the Jewish lobby intimidates a lot of people up here.

So Hitler kills 6 million Jews in death camps, Islamic countries have been expelling or killing Jews in more modern times, and Hamas almost continually rains down missiles upon Israeli cities.
And yet Chuck Hagel’s whining about AIPAC & Co. is the worst form of anti-semitism there is?
Worst? I think the Palestinian "Kill all the Jews including the babies" plan might be just a bit worse.
...and speaking of treasonous bastards, rumor is John effing Kerry, who served in Vietnam, is wanted by the present administration as Sec of State to replace Hillary.
That should not have a prayer of passage so obviously should his name be presented, it will pass.
Huh?
OK I’m a bit disconnected about some things, but I’ve never before this very post heard even one hint that Hagel is alleged by someone to be somehow anti-Semitic.
You have some details about this?
Thanks in advance.
It’s no secret in Washington.
Back home, he’s never mentioned it.
Doesn't like FJBs, eh?
Thsi is just an example of "stay the course" for Obama.
OK got an example?
I’m just wondering whether this is anti-Semitism, or simply a difference in opinion?
It is possible to hold a less than Israel before everybody including America view, and not be anti-Semitic.
Anyone got an example of this please? Not trying to say he’s not, but not trying to say he is either.
Examples please.
Hagel was an ass of the highest order, but I was on the metro one day going into DC,and one his ADC was on the metro. A blond young lady who was helping a young family from Nebraska and she offered them a tour through his offices.
She was as good looking and nice as they come.
LOL!
As for the article, I don’t see the republicans doing anything. You couldn’t find a spine among the whole bunch in the senate except maybe for Paul of KY.
They may huff and puff but as always they will fold and do as their king decrees from the white house.
These are doctrine issues in the realm of foreign policy neocons versus foreign policy realists.
Dem presidents usually appoint realists to SecDef and are not adverse to appointing republican realists like Cohen under Clinton or Bob Gates under Obama and now Hagel under Obama.
