Fox News commentator Steven Crowder has filed a complaint with the Michigan State Police in relation to an assault he sustained by a pro-union protester while attending a demonstration outside Michigan’s state capitol on December, 11. The protesters were demonstrating against the state legislature’s efforts to pass right to work laws in the heavily unionized state. Crowder joined the protests in support of those controversial laws.
The Washington Post’s Erik Wemple spoke with Richard Hale, the shift supervisor at the Lansing post of the Michigan State Police, who confirmed that Crowder has begun the process of filing a criminal complaint:
“By calling in, he’s in essence filed a complaint. He’s initiated the process for the filing of a criminal complaint,” Hale told Wemple.
Since the incident, Crowder says that he has legitimate fears for his safety as he is receiving disturbing threats on a regular basis.
Crowder recently tweeted that he has engaged the services of a former police officer to provide protective services for his wife. “Right now I have a former police officer, heavily armed at my house protecting my wife,” Crowder wrote. “The threats are severe. Prayers appreciated.”

The only people who have to assume alleged is the jury.
Many here were pounding on the police for not doing anything. Well, no complaint had been filed. Now it has. Let us see what happens...
I will pray for him and his wife and I do hope he sues the union if that is possible. These thugs have to learn a lesson. There should be jail time.
I hope the hot dog stand owner also files charges for damages and that he too will sue.
He should have done it immediately.
Eric Holder will review the video and see no evidence of wrongdoing as he did when the Black Panthers broke the law and wielded billy clubs directly in front of a polling place.

I saw Greta’s interview with the Michigan state police commander last night. When she asked him what he was doing with the situation, he said ‘nothing, because no one filed a complaint.’
I’m wondering if that’s what prompted the complaint being filed today.
I don’t understand the delay, the assault happened, it’s blatantly obvious.

The police don’t need a complaint to be filed by the victim if they have evidence of a crime. And they have the same video we have.
He should have done it immediately after beating the ever loving p!$$ out of the thug who was wailing on him.
I never would have cowered as he did in such a situation. The guy who was throwing the punches should have been put down swiftly.
Sadly, cynically, I have little hope MI Police of any kind will do anything. Saw one of them on Hannity last night acting like because they did not see this in real-time, no foul, conveniently ingnoring all the videos, etc. Wish it were otherwise.

Greta had a Lansing police spokesman on last night. Judging by his attitude, something tells me nothing will come of this complaint. He seemed intent on underplaying the violence even though it was caught on video.
People also don’t understand the jurisdictional issues involved.
As I understand it, city, State and, County police all have different areas of jurisdiction on capitol grounds.
