By what standard are you saying Brown "couldn't find anything bad to say" about Warren? Obviously, he's not going to say what you said, but by the standards of most political campaigns, he made the points he could make and made them often enough and well enough.
What won the election for Warren was the strong support for Obama in the state -- or the strong dislike for Republicans. Obama won't be on the ballot this time, and Patrick will have to run on his own sorry record of few achievements.
There's certainly no guarantee that Scott Brown will win, but there pretty much is a guarantee that another Republican won't.
Perhaps that was Brown's 15 minutes?
