I went to a gun shop this evening in the "South". This is a well-known gun shop but it's in the middle of freakin nowhere. Drove an hour to get there.
I went there tonight because, yesterday morning, I bought a "piece" over the phone so they had it locked up in the back for me. So I had to pick it up tonight.
But the real story was I couldn't believe how many people were in there. There were at least 150 people in there. All the parking spaces in the lot were full. Black guns were flying off of the shelves. Background checks were taking up to two hours because the system was slow. I've never seen anything like it in my life. They locked up the store an hour early so they could ensure they got all of the customers inside taken care of with sales and background checks.
In a related story, this guy that I know just went out a bought 7 AR15's.
Has it really come to this? I think the answer is yes.
Hi Cap mag prices have tripled. Bought 3/$36 a month ago, and same item on same site is now $30.00 each. If they have them. Other sites are backordered out.
You in VA, by any chance? Background checks set all-time record here today.
AB, “Has it really come to this?”
What “it”?
If the Jews and Gypsies of Europe had done the same thing after the Reichstag fire, there would’ve never been a holocaust.
It's just supply and demand. The supply is being threatened. People are doing the same thing with incandescent lights.
Town of about 4000 in Arkansas store was packed. Sold 35,000 worth in 3 hours.
It’s like that everywhere around here too (TX).
B.O. & DiFi are going to be the gun salespersons of 2012.
Our founding fathers were so shortsighted to not put incandescent lights in the constitution.
Sure must be nice to have that kind of discretionary income. Or at least a serious 'eff it' attitude when it comes to personal debt.
And not a dollar budgeted for space exploration, either!;)
I’ve got my eye on a walnut-stock Springfield M1A SuperMatch—if I can find one.
I am thinking of converting my 401k into weapons.
Even after my penalty for selling out early, I would have made more than that back in the first year.
I guess they just weren’t that bright. /s
My mother and father in-law (who both escaped Germany during WW II as children with their families) said the same exact thing.
He’s taking a gamble but he quadruple his money in 3 months.
My guess is, a 401K wont be worth Obama’s word in a couple years. It’s probably a smart move.
Another principle the Left cannot grasp.
I had plans to attend a local gun show this week end, however there won't be many bargains to be had, even in single action and collector items, so I may stay home. Of course if I had something to sell, I'd go, but selling my guns is like selling my children. If I offer a gun for sell, be reassured its a rotten piece of crap.
So long as they don’t make it illegal to sell what you have.
Somebody could slip on that and have a nasty fall.
Stopped by a couple of my regular gun stores the day after the shootings. Both were busier than I have ever seen them and preban AR mags have tripled in price.
Several online sites are price gouging. Cheaper than dirt just lost my ammo business. They are tacking 200 dollars on ARs and selling mags for 60 bucks all of a sudden, when they were 1/3rd of that before.
Looks like I am going to buy a lower and build one. Lower is the only serial part so rest will be easier to get.
Was able to find 30 round Magpuls online tonight for about $12 each. Ordered 4...
I saw some 1947 Turkish 8mm ammo going for $50 for a 70 round bandolier today
That stuff was $2 a bandolier last time I saw any.
I checked several on-line suppliers. Most of their high capacity magazines are out of stock.
Yeeeee Haawwwww! ... it's hunting season.
BUMP for good freeping.
Thanks for the first-hand account.
Next payday I’ll be looking for a Remington 700 and another revolver. And ammo, naturally.
If it comes down to it, get a rack grade M1A - all the upgrades for the “super match” variant can be done to a rack grade rifle. The sights are easy. You’d have to bed the action (or your gunsmith goes that) and your gunsmith puts on a Krieger match barrel.
I am female, I want to buy gun for safety, easy to handle. Please suggest me.
A Glock 23 would be my suggestion. Thats the .40S&W cartridge.
Even a compact .380 will do the job and they make lots of noise, but for put down power I suggest a .45 and Glock makes them in several sizes, the 1911 style frames are the best in most peoples hands, the right angle and such, oddly enough I found my S&W Sigma a natural fit though its a 9mm, my best handgun, most accurate is the Sig Sauer P220, that is when I’m serious, though the Glock 21 also in .45 is right alongside it. The Sig is wonderful. My hands are big so I can handle double stacked frames.
May have to see my local gunguy to see if he still has GP11 at a reasonable price.
Thanks, I will check this weekend. In California, how long it will take to get gun.
Revolvers are unlikely to be an early target of gun control. The semi-auto pistols with removable mags are likely going to get hit. No brass chasing with a revolver. It goes bang every time. No jams with a "limp wrist".
For your house, a 20 gauge pump shotgun.
Sorry I have no idea, I left Ca over 20 years ago, living in Alaska where I can answer an Alaskalist ad and buy a gun in an hour or two privately. Private sales in Alaska are very popular.
Hey, thanks for letting me try that.
Same thing at my local store. One interesting scene was a woman coming out with an AR15 clone in the box, and put it in the trunk of her car with the Obama sticker on it.
She's probably back on Facebook now, condemning all those male cowards who think they have a right to buy an AR15. Fortunately for me, I wasn't looking for a Black Rifle right now (beat the panic buying), but was looking for interesting trade-ins or non-AR15 items. Couldn't get near the black rifle counter, anyway. Scored two items I didn't think I'd want until I saw them.
Cheaper than dirt is a rip off...
Bought another AR-15 shortly after the election. I saw the writing on the wall even before the horrible school shooting. I am going to buy another handgun, some ar mags, and some 5.56 ammo as soon as I get back from a business trip.
“Several online sites are price gouging.”
We call that a “free market”. It’s one of the things we fight wars to protect.
Bud’s sold out of Mosin Nagants also. DAMN. Every rifle I have looked at in the past three weeks has gone “out of stock.” I hope they get more...
There are discussions in various leftwing think tanks today about how the government might actually go about confiscating our 401K funds.
I ripped up and tossed all their catalogues I had lastnight. They will never see another dime from me.
One of my local stores was like Walmart on Black Friday this past Saturday afternoon. It was like grand central station.
From the description, I’d say you went to Mackey’s.
be advised, it will ONLY eat MATCH GRADE ammo consistently, and that ain't cheap... for long distance OK, but as a main gun, get a stock rifle that eats anything and add what you want to it
Bullshit, tripling the price of a mag to make a buck off the murder of kids is a company I will not do business with anymore. And the We are temporarily stopping online sales of guns is a sop to the anti 2nd Amendment weasels.
