The Genius of Sam Donaldson
American Thinker ^ | 12/25/12 | David Garth

Old Sam Donaldson is back in the news. You remember Sam, don't you? Physically, he tends to remind one of an eagle. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to have the vision of one - particularly in regard to our future.

Here's what Sam had to say last weekend:

"It's the Tea Party and thinking of the Tea Party and people like that that are driving the Republicans out of contention as a national party. You cannot win nationally if you don't know something about the way the country's changed, and the Tea Party seems to think the country can go back 25 or 30 years. The greatest slogan that I hated during this last campaign was "We want to take back our country." Guys, it's not your country anymore - it's our country and you're part of it, but that thinking is going to defeat Republicans nationally if they don't get rid of it."

Obviously, Sam Donaldson has been exposed to Washington DC for too long, and has become infected with a malady all too common. Thisisnormalitiis.

Sam, are you saying that what we have going on in the nation's capitol is just fine? That the Tea Party needs to just shut up about lower taxes and decreasing our debt, because the majority of the country believes that high taxes and exploding debt is just wonderful?

I remember you, Sam. The fearless tormentor of Ronald Reagan. But, like Reagan, I am not overly impressed by your superior intellect. Please allow me the arrogance to point out a few things. I know I am only from fly-over country, and may lack your enlightenment, but I do believe there are a few salient points to be made.

You say that we cannot go back 25 or 30 years, time has

I remember 30 years ago on this week when George Will brought up the flat tax. Donaldson siad “whats that?”.

Brinkley said the tax rate is flat. Donaldson didn’t under stand.

So Brinkley said is you make 4 times as much you pay four times as much.

Donaldson still didnt undestand but let it go.

I didn’t know at the time he was getting a $100,000 tax subsidy for mohair, used to make WWI and WWII uniforms.

Hey Sam taking the country back 25-30 years would work for you. Higher BAC allowed plus the police would often give you a “go home” order or take you home if they suspected one had been drinking.

It wasn’t the Tea Party that lost the election, you old drunk - it was the Republican Party trying to play it safe by nominating a weak middle-of-the-roader who failed to secure the base of his party and who failed to articulate the core principles that the Tea Party strives for. The candidate lost because he was weak.

We’re going to win the Presidency back, you bourbon-soaked old fart, and when we do, you’ll be eating your hat.

I’m pretty surprized that a guy like Sam could get as far ashe has without a working brain.Jimmah Carter did well with his limited mental agility too.

He reminds me of an old dog turd, on the lawn.

Let's go way, way, waaay back.....to 2 years ago. Nov. 2010. The T-Party is not old news in any sense. Another T-Party revolt happens in less than 2 years.

Obie has his successes in Presidential years, but not so in congressional years. Sorry Sam. Either we go back in time to a more sensible, conservative era willfully, or via a massive crash. Either way, we'll be back to a smaller simpler time.

Sam is more about political ideology, than about country.

The problem for republicans going forward, is that, unlike the English and other Europeans of 100-400 years ago, who were able to leave crappy situations and crappy countries, that option is no longer available. There is no new “America” with the hope of a new life and a new success and a new set of freedoms. America is stuck with becoming the repressive and oppressive type of government which the pioneers left way back then.

Sam is right, and there is no going back. Not when the majority is determined that the government owes them anything and everything.

The only hope, if anybody wants to contemplate it at all, is for the more conservative states to try to set their own paths, and perhaps even secede. The country is too far gone, and in reality, there is no way back to 1982 or even to 2000.

PS: The "we want to take our country back" came originally from the 2006 Howard Dean book, You Have the Power: How to Take Back Our Country and Restore Democracy in America.

Sure thing, Sam, that Tea Party idea of the government living within its means is just so ‘out there’. Now, eat your pudding and take a nap.

Sam has no idea what the Tea Party is about and what it stands for.

He's done exceedingly well for being exceedingly clueless.

That said, I'm sure he only reads/hears what the WH/LSM line is any way, so I doubt one can expect him to fill in his dearth of knowledge outside the boundaries of the party of useful idiots.

." Guys, it's not your country anymore - it's our country and you're part of it, but that thinking is going to defeat Republicans nationally if they don't get rid of it."

It sounds like "resistance is futile" you will be absorbed.

Donaldson is part of the marxists rear guard making sure we don't reverse the gains they have made over the last thirty years.
