President Obama on Sunday said he would make gun control a priority in his new term, pledging to put his "full weight" behind passing new restrictions on firearms in 2013.
"I'm going to be putting forward a package and I'm going to be putting my full weight behind it," Obama said in an interview aired on NBC's "Meet the Press."
"I'm going to be making an argument to the American people about why this is important and why we have to do everything we can to make sure that something like what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary does not happen again."

Even in so called ‘blue’ states, like California he will be flabbergasted by the resistance (and I am sure states like NY and IL are similar).
There are pockets of liberal sissy men, however the rest of the state is rural and will never give into the government confiscation of weapons.
Even in the hell hole pockets beyond just liberals compounds, does barry really think street gangs will give up their weapons?

I can’t speak for NY, but there are a LOT of folks here in Illinois who will not buckle under.

The kenyan is trying, like the idiot democrat party did in 1860, to do away with the parts of the Constitution it does not like. This time it will not be a civil war, but a second revolution to reestablish the Republic and the Constitution as it was established by the founders. There will be no borderlines or Mason-Dixon line anymore than there was a set of borders when the founders rose against the oppression of Britain. Not all of the colonies in the first revolution fully supported the cause and not all parts of the population of all the states will fully support a second revolution. There will be resistance all right, and a lot more than the kenyan anticipates.

I've been advocating this approach for years now .... let's see if the "usual suspects" show up here on FR and say once again we have to "change things at the ballot box."
I say the ballot box is BROKEN. Frankly, the game's RIGGED when 47% are living off the rest of us.

I can look at recent election results in both NY and Illinois and say with confidence that those are some of the first states that would buckle under. I mean, come on, there might be some holdouts but NY and Illinois are pretty far gone at this point.
There was the previous assault weapons ban and far more restrictions on our 2nd amendment rights in the past, yet I don't recall much in the way of resistance. Heck, gun control used to far worse than it is now and there was no resistance. I hope this time is different, but I doubt it.
