Pelosi: House can pass bill with Democratic help (Boehner surrenders to Pelosi, too...)
Washington Post ^ | 1/1/13 | Rachel Weiner

Posted on 01/01/2013 4:58:30 PM PST by jimbo123

Echoing her words at a press conference earlier in the day, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) called Tuesday afternoon for an up-or-down vote on the “fiscal cliff” deal passed by the Senate. She wrote on Twitter that she was confident the bill would pass the House with a “strong majority” of House Democrats.

Bonehead should turn the gavel over to Pelosi. She is running the show
in the house anyway. Bonehead is simply a tool for the K-Street Money
Changers.

I think they only need 26 Republicans to pass this. Have at it!
HL Mencken, I think you can kinda see where he was coming from when he said back in the day: “Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance. No one in this world, so far as I know—and I have researched the records for years, and employed agents to help me—has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby.”

Maybe we should call him Boner Bender. I guess we know which team he’s taking one for.

Perhaps Boehner should look into amendments - at least enough that the bill looks like something a patriotic American would support and not the usual socialist class-warfare drivel.

The only thing that could possible save this country is if a huge majority of people would accept that both parties are as phony as a bunch of three dollar bills. They go to cash in. Even most of the so called Tea Party congress people. They cower to the elite as soon as they get there. Why? Because they want to be re-elected and keep getting the perks.

The proof is that every Tea Partier in congress should have been screaming to high heaven about West getting screwed. But they left him to the wolves.

A brand new party is the only answer. And it’s probably too late. But I really don’t know why I care. I’m too old to give a damn anymore.

We are witnessing the ‘political’ Appomattox of this country. Forces lead by McConnell and Boehner have surrender on the hope that they will be able to salvage more in future meetings.

The election was the time for a change in leadership but we didn’t get it. Now, it will not happen either. There will be no revolution by any politician in the House or Senate.

The fix is in. All the players are lining up and applauding each other for avoiding ....

The GOP leadership knows what they're doing - its all theater calculated to give them deniability & gets them re-elected.

Whenever some poor deluded republican freshman actually believes cutting the size of government is a worthy goal we know how the leadership reacts.

It's the Washington Post trying to mold public opinion.

Of course the bill will pass with help from the marxists.
They vote in lockstep. The republicans are all over the map. If they could all work together, they could control the government from the house chambers.

May I assume your question is just rhetorical?

Forces lead by McConnell and Boehner have surrender on the hope that they will be able to salvage more in future meetings.

They never fought so it would be inaccurate to say they surrendered. Besides the ONLY thing they hope for is to salvage reelection. Boner and Canker are vile, deadly diseases.

The GOP leadership knows what they're doing - its all theater calculated to give them deniability & gets them re-elected.

Very well stated. The Tea Partiers wanted to force some amendments, Boner and his ilk wouldn't agree to vote for the amendments, hence the straight up or down vote, knowing all the while they will have about 180 Dimwit votes. So this bill will pass with a coalition of dems and republican leadership (although chickensh*t Canker will have the cover to vote against it).

The real problem was the complete capitulation of the republican senators.
