Local Wendy's cuts employee's hours due to Obamacare costs

An Omaha-based Wendy's franchisee is cutting all non-management workers' hours to part time in order to avoid paying health insurance to its employees.

The cost of Obamacare was cited as the reason:

*********

The company has announced that all non-management positions will have their hours reduced to 28 a week. Gary Burdette, Vice President of Operations for the local franchise, says the cuts are coming because the new Affordable Health Care Act requires employers to offer health insurance to employees working 32-38 hours a week. Under the current law they are not considered full time and that as a small business owner, he can't afford to stay in operation and pay for everyone's health insurance.

There are 11 Wendy's restaurants in the metro. "It has a huge effect on me and pretty much everybody that I work with," says Growbeck, who understands the reasoning and says other part-timers at other fast-food restaurants are facing the same problem. "I'm hoping that I can get some sort of promotion because then I would get my hours, but everybody is shooting for that because of the hours being cut."

Burdette says the decision affects around 100 employees. It was a tough one and he understands why people are upset, but the hour reduction is effective in two weeks for all non-management. Management employees will continue to have benefits as they are officially full time.

Liberals are claiming the cost of Obamacare is "negligible":

If a business is paying $150 a month for employee health insurance coverage and those costs rise significantly - doubling in some cases - how is the impact on business costs “negligible?” And does anyone still believe the propaganda that Obamacare will actually reduce costs? The evidence is overwhelming that it won’t.

Awesome! I love to see liberals get skewered by Obama’s policies. Given Wendy’s workers tend to be young, I’d bet if they bothered to vote, most voted Obama.

The media will fill them with garbage about how this is the insurance companies’ fault and this is why we need MORE government control, (single payer). That is the liberal playbook, in the face of failure, claim what was done just wasn’t big enough.

The media is pushing us into the abyss, but I’ll enjoy watching liberals suffer along the way.

We’re supposed to be liberal, and not be confused by facts or business realities. Thus, we’re supposed to praise Obamacare, and just think that some greedy Wendy’s franchise owner doesn’t wang to provide health insurance due to his being heartless. If you are liberal your whole worldview is different.

The media “reports” that Obamacare WILL reduce costs. The American public, completely lacking in critical thinking skills, takes this reporting as fact.

Good point. Never waste an opportunity to demonize capitalism.

LASt night I saw Scott Rasmussen discussing the Fiscal Cliff debacle with Stephen Moore of WSJ and Isabel Sawhill of Brookings Inst..They touched on the poll stat that 54% of the voters (D) support Obama's fiscal policy. NONE OF THEM could bring themselves to ask the obvious question of, "What do these people do for a living?"

Now that most of America works for the government,in a union job or not at all, this situation ain't getting better. I think we can expect extended democrat control as America goes the way of Detroit.

What does Obamacare improve on? Where and how does Obamacare help healthcare at all? Justice Roberts says Obamacare is a TAX.......it is becoming apparent that Obamacare is like a canker sore; very painful and can pop up at anytime...like Obamacare...for no rhyme or reason.

:: you are not free from the consequences of your choice. ::

Not true. The Dhimmicrats are willing to re-distribute those consequences to more responsible Americans.

Odd that it's not in the news, but Target Inc. is doing the same thing.

"NONE OF THEM could bring themselves to ask the obvious question of, "What do these people do for a living?"

According to BLS, the Employment-Population Ratio was 58.6% for Dec 2012 -- so the most likely answer is -- "nothing"!

Sounds like it’s the front line service workers. If that’s your “career” then you’ve screwed up royally and need to move on to a real job anyway. Grab those bootstraps and get to pullin’.

I’ll be interested to see if this decision survives the next 72 hours of the news cycle.

When Denny’s and Olive Garden talked about doing this the Obama Twitter Mobs were unleashed, convincing them that they were staring at the face of a boycott by 93% of the American public. So they backed down.

My guess is Wendy’s Corporate is getting bombarded right now and will be leaning on this franchisee to do an about-face.

The Obamaites appear to have a very well-developed Immune Response.

If the Republican party still existed this admitted foreign born twice unconstitutionally elected POTUS would have been out long ago. Matter of fact he wouldn't have even gotten close to running in the first place, would have been disqualified long ago.

So who is left? Who has the power and guts to expose this hoax? This hoax is ending this country. We are 2 months out of the election and he's just getting started. We got FOUR more YEARS of this BS! Maybe Clint can help?

Fresh on the heels of last night’s bombshell from Breitbart.com, in which the news site uncovered a 1991 promotional booklet for Barack Obama stating that he was “born in Kenya,” comes another stunning piece of evidence, from a much more reputable source.

It turns out the Associated Press is a “birther” organization. It must be, based on this 2004 story that the nation’s largest news agency ran.

Kenyan-born US Senate hopeful, Barrack Obama, appeared set to take over the Illinois Senate seat after his main rival, Jack Ryan, dropped out of the race on Friday night amid a furor over lurid sex club allegations.

This report, published Sunday, June 27, 2004 by the Kenyan Standard Times, was syndicated world-wide.

That’s not all.

On January 8, 2006, the Honolulu Advertiser also reported that Barack Obama was born outside the United States:

http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2006/Jan/08/ln/FP601080334.html

So what’s the deal? Were these stories erroneous in there reporting about the birthplace of President Barack Obama, or do you think he was really born outside the United States?

You can view a large screenshot of the Standard’s story below (click to enlarge), and read the whole article here:

“The Obamaites appear to have a very well-developed Immune Response.”

I heard something on the radio yesterday that makes perfect sense, and explains a lot.

The left, by their very nature, are collectivists. They thrive in an environment where they are directed, and are subservient to the cause. This explains their organization.

The right, buy their nature, are individualists. We tend to put emphasis on freedom, and doing as we choose, not following the group. This may explain part of our organizational dysfunction.

RE: employees are mad, saying “Obama did it!”

This is NY and California. Who did they vote for?

Chances are, it’s Obama. Tell them to enjoy the consequences of their choice.
