Major Shakeout Looms for Top New York Times Editors (Pink Slips, Hope and Change!)
New York Mag ^ | 1/11/13 | Joe Hagan

Posted on 01/11/2013 10:05:15 AM PST by jimbo123

The next two weeks are going to get tense inside the headquarters of the New York Times.

Last month, executive editor Jill Abramson told the staff she’d have to cut 30 positions from the news division to buffer against financial losses from rapidly declining advertising revenue. Reporters and editors would be offered buyouts, she said, but if she didn't have enough takers in a month’s time, she would be “forced to go to layoffs.”

As the January 24 deadline approaches, only two people, assistant managing editor Jonathan Landman and reporter Jacques Steinberg, have formally announced their exits.

They should offload the Boston Globe to save money. Then the Globe can be no more and the socialists will have one less mouthpiece here in MA.

I love watching the slow death of this intellectually corrupt newspaper.

Unless NYT goes conservative and prints the truth, they are doomed to failure. Never happened in the past; can’t see it happening now.

For years I’d read the New York Times on the morning subway ride to work . . . and then one day I realized it was just a lot of pretty sentences with no underlying substance. I switched to the New York Post as my morning paper, and have been happier and more informed about the news that matters ever since.

Pink slips at the NYT?

Always knew there was a bunch of fellas walking around in women’s underwear @NYT.duh. It’s on 42nd street at Times Square you know. Ho’s, pimps, and trannies been hanging out there for decades.

But they’re not going to cut the editorial section. I, for one, always want to know the opinions of the writers at the New York Times. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Abramson is offering some senior editors alternate jobs, presumably at reduced salaries.

I worked in a place that did exactly that, I came in a few years after the bloodletting.

The big dog I worked for had his salary cut in HALF! This did not make him a happy worker. He's a fellow Viet vet, before leaving on vacation told me don't call because he will not answer, what are they would they do 'send me to Vietnam'?
