The blogosphere has exploded with outrage in response to news that Walmart is suspending ammunition sales in anticipation of the Obama administration’s gun-control recommendations to Congress – but the retail giant tells WND the reports aren’t true.
“That information is inaccurate,” said Ashley Hardie, a spokeswoman located at Walmart’s corporate headquarters in Bentonville, Ark.
WND then asked whether the retail chain is cutting back on orders of ammunition.
“No,” Hardie said. “We’re continuing to serve our customers as we have in the past.”
She said Walmart’s ammunition sales policy has not changed, even amid talk of gun-control legislation in Washington, D.C.
The uproar began when the InvestmentWatch blog posted a story headlined, “Breaking & confirmed: Walmart is not going to order any more ammo.”
CNS News cited the report, and talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh mentioned it during his Monday show.
According to the InvestmentWatch report, a man claimed to have visited his local Walmart and noticed the store was “out of almost every kind of ammo.”

I don't have any updated first hand information for you. I can tell you that Walmart does go over backwards to comply with local laws, which usually means picture identification before the purchase can be made. I don't know if Walmart themselves keep a database of all gun/ammo purchasers as separate from the other purchases.
You are correct - Remington being freed of Walmart’s shackles is a good thing... thought they have been a relatively steady source of orders, even when ammo sales have been more normal”.
And yes, they won’t have any issues selling whatever they can make and send out the door - shelves are empty at every sporting goods store I have been to. Big chains, and small mom & pop places all are clamoring for ammo.
But it should disturb us that there is even a bit of truth to the world’s largest retailer falling in line to President Obama’s Marxist maneuvers.

I agree that it should disturb us, but that is life. If you want to be as big as Walmart, then you MUST own up to the feds. But, for gun owners, Walmart is only one player - there are many, many, mom-and-pop operations will will do GREAT with Walmart being out of the way.
The feds likely didn’t factor this all in...but that is then dynamics.
So, the same question. Why would anyone want to purchase ammo made in Russia. I can just imagine at a critical time shipping us a lot of duds and then provoking some kind of civil unrest or invasion, let’s say from Mexico.
I can imagine a lot of things. I don't have to imagine the Russians selling us thousands of tons of low cost, reasonable quality, reliable ammunition. That's what they're doing right now.
If you want to imagine things ... I can imagine Federal or Winchester being ordered a gunpoint by Fedzilla to muck up domestic civilian ammunition supplies.
